What is the difference between pre-preg and wet-layup carbon fiber?

Pre-preg carbon fiber uses resin pre-impregnated into the fiber fabric at precise ratios in a controlled environment, then cured under heat and pressure in an autoclave for a consistent fiber-to-resin ratio and maximum structural integrity. Wet-layup carbon fiber applies resin manually during the lay-up process, which results in higher resin content, more weight, and less consistent mechanical properties. Pre-preg parts like those used by APR are lighter, stiffer, and produce a higher quality cosmetic finish compared to wet-layup equivalents at the same wall thickness.

Do APR carbon fiber wings require specific mounting hardware?

APR GTC series rear wings include adjustable end plate mounts designed for flat trunk lid surfaces and include threaded stud kits for installation. Vehicle-specific APR wing kits may include brackets or stands designed for specific trunk lid contours. For track applications where the wing must handle significant aerodynamic load at high speed, APR recommends bolting through the trunk lid to a backing plate inside the trunk rather than relying on adhesive mounting alone.
