aFe 49-02078-P ATLAS uses 5-inch mandrel-bent ALUMINIZED STEEL tubing, 100% MIG-welded construction and factory-style hangers. One 7-inch polished stainless tip finishes the system behind the retained DPF. Mega Cab and Crew Cab short-bed configurations use different extension arrangements.

Use extension 05-142878 only on Mega Cab / standard short bed with 160-inch wheelbase. Crew Cab / standard short bed with 149-inch wheelbase omits it. One extension joint and its 5-inch band are therefore not installed on the shorter configuration; the bill still supplies four 5-inch bands.

Main tubes are ALUMINIZED STEEL, not aluminum and not the shared-bill stainless alternative kit. ONE polished stainless tip is selected with 5-inch inlet, 7-inch outlet and 15-inch length. Tip service identity is 49T50701-P15; generic black retailer copy does not change the selected polished finish.

Factory DPF and emissions equipment stay installed. Remove exhaust only to BACK OF DPF. Reuse original hanger and isolation mounts. No replacement DPF, converter, sensor, muffler or valve is listed.

Support factory exhaust separately. Install front pipe with 4.5-inch band, applicable Mega Cab extension, rear pipe, over-axle, tailpipe and selected tip. Keep joints loose for alignment, check all surrounding clearances and tighten evenly FRONT to REAR.

BAND CLAMPS require 40-45 ft-lb. No separate numeric decorative-tip torque is printed. Re-tighten ALL clamps and hardware after 50-100 miles. Listed configurations require no cutting per current exact manufacturer.

Installation Instructions

Verify aFe 49-02078-P.

1. Read both pages of own May 2026 manual, all SIXTEEN steps, full bill and diagram. Inspect supplied parts for shipping damage; cool exhaust and wear eye/hand protection. Use vehicle-manual jack-stand positions and support factory exhaust separately with jacks/stands. Keep new joints loose until fully installed for adjustment.
2. Remove factory exhaust only UP TO THE BACK OF THE DIESEL PARTICULATE FILTER. Factory DPF and emissions equipment stay installed. Lay out selected ALUMINIZED parts as own diagram shows.
3. Install front pipe 05-142877 with supplied 4.5-inch band 05-410241. For MEGA CAB / SHORT BED, 160-inch wheelbase, install extension 05-142878 with one supplied 5-inch band. For CREW CAB / SHORT BED, 149-inch wheelbase, OMIT extension. Do not cut or force the extension into the shorter configuration.
4. Install rear pipe 05-142879 with a 5-inch band and engage its hangers in original factory mounts. Install over-axle 05-242011 with a 5-inch band, then tailpipe 05-242012 with a 5-inch band; engage tailpipe hanger in original isolation mount.
5. Install selected polished tip and adjust its position. Check safe clearance from all wires, hoses, brake lines, body parts and tires. Align and tighten evenly from FRONT to REAR. BAND CLAMPS require 40-45 FT-LB; no separate numeric decorative-tip torque is supplied.
6. Start vehicle, check for leaks and repair any found before lowering safely from stands. Re-tighten ALL clamps and hardware after 50-100 miles. Current exact primary states no cutting or modifications for listed configurations. No battery-disconnection, sensor relocation, valve transfer or coding procedure is printed.
