- Read own March 2022 ONE-page manual, all TEN steps and photos. VISIBLE header explicitly reads 2017-2026 despite stale underlying extracted 2022 text. Cool exhaust, wear eye/hand protection and support vehicle/exhaust independently; manual calls for at least TWO stands/jacks for exhaust support.
- REMOVE original NOx SENSOR BEFORE removing original rear exhaust/extension from REAR SIDE OF DPF. Preserve ORIGINAL flange gasket and all original hardware for reuse. Retain original sensor and wiring; the abbreviated manual does not print a later sensor restoration procedure. Restore the original sensor and connections according to vehicle service instructions before operation; removal does not authorize sensor deletion.
- Choose cut/extension configuration BEFORE assembly: SC/LB 8-foot box, 141.6-inch wheelbase: trim approximately 4 inches OFF flange adaptor; NO extension. - LOOSEN undercarriage SPARE TIRE and push it to the RIGHT as far as directed, against right heat shield, to provide clearance from LEFT exhaust tube. Once clearance is satisfactory, TIGHTEN SPARE TIRE BACK UP. Do not leave tire loose or remove protective shield as a substitute.
- Secure THREE-hole flange adaptor to original DPF with ORIGINAL hardware/gasket. Install over-axle Y-pipe on applicable extension/adaptor routing and engage hangers in original rubber isolators. Install RIGHT tailpipe; if original right hanger mount must be removed for access, REBOLT IT after engaging hanger.
- Position RIGHT tip with aFe badge facing REAR of truck, initially snug. Remove original bolts for LEFT hanger bracket 05-46258 and install bracket using SAME ORIGINAL hardware per photos. Engage LEFT tailpipe hanger in provided rubber isolation mount. Position LEFT tip with badge facing REAR.
- Align all sections and tighten FOUR 4-inch bands from FRONT toward REAR. No numeric band, tip, flange or hanger torque is printed; do not borrow 40-45 ft-lb from a different kit. Verify restored original NOx sensor/wiring and all clearances before operation.
- Check/repair exhaust leaks. After 50-100 miles check SPARE TIRE clearance, zip ties and heat wrap, and re-tighten bands if necessary. Exact supplied tie/wrap quantities are not itemized. No battery-disconnection, coding, valve-transfer or installation welding procedure is supplied. Original DPF stays installed.
