Installation Instructions

1. Read the exact manufacturer instructions for 46-20074-B, verify the actual engine, supplied parts and every unresolved source conflict before disassembly.
2. Allow cooling, park level, engage the parking brake and disconnect the negative battery cables. Choose the exact manual removal method before proceeding: aFe recommends radiator removal if preserving the original hot tube; alternatively the original tube may be cut for removal only if it will not be reused. Radiator work requires the applicable vehicle service procedure.
3. For the illustrated original-pipe cutting route, release both original hot-tube connections and place rags inside the tube as directed to protect against debris. Unclip the power-steering line, unbolt and move its reservoir aside without inventing a hydraulic-line disconnection.
4. Mark the original tube at the manufacturer illustrated location, move all wires, hoses and reservoirs clear and cut only that identified original charge pipe if the non-reuse route was chosen. Do not invent a universal cut length or cut a new supplied pipe. Remove the old tube and its couplings, retaining original components needed for restoration.
5. Remove all protective rags/debris before assembly. Seal unused NPT ports with supplied plugs and thread sealant as directed, and thoroughly clean oil residue from coupling connections.
6. Fit the 3-inch ID x 4-1/8-inch internally beaded hump and two 3.25-inch spring-loaded clamps at the turbo outlet, initially loose. Fit the new hot tube and seat the coupling bead into its prescribed locking position. Restore the power-steering reservoir and line clip.
7. Fit the 86-degree 3.25-to-3-inch reducer with one 3.25-inch clamp and the larger supplied 3.38-to-3.69-inch clamp at the intercooler end. Align the tube clear of surrounding components before final clamp tightening.
8. With negative battery cables disconnected, release the original cold-side intercooler coupling. Disconnect/remove the horn and move the transmission cooler aside from its intercooler saddle, retaining original hardware.
9. Release the two upper intercooler support screws. Mark the exact hood-latch position around its screws, then remove and move the latch aside with its retaining clips. Remove radiator-support brackets and the upper core-support fasteners as directed; retain all parts.
10. Remove the upper core support, release the engine-inlet coupling and remove the original cold pipe. Seal unused threaded ports with the supplied plugs and thread sealant. Clean oil residue from all coupling connections.
11. Fit the 3-inch ID x 4-inch hump and two 3.25-inch spring-loaded clamps to the new pipe end without the bracket. Fit that end to the engine inlet and loosely use the original lower passenger-side core-support screw to support the tube as instructed.
12. Check pipe-to-core-support clearance in the illustrated area. Add the supplied isolation pad where directed. If clearance is insufficient, the manual calls for slight trimming of the upper core support. This is not a fan-shroud cut, and the pad does not replace required clearance. Do not invent a cut dimension.
13. Restore radiator brackets, the hood latch aligned to its original marks, intercooler support, transmission-cooler fastener and horn/electrical connector. Verify proper latch engagement using the applicable vehicle service procedure before driving.
14. Fit the 3-inch ID x 4-1/8-inch internally beaded hump and two remaining 3.25-inch spring-loaded clamps at the intercooler end. Seat its beaded side into the intercooler groove, verify clearance, tighten all clamps and secure the original mounting screw.
