Three-inch stainless LM2 DPF-back with a polished tip

The aFe 49-44128-P Large Bore-HD system uses mandrel-bent 409 stainless tubing, a heavy-duty flex section with an internal interlock liner and one polished 4.5-inch 304 stainless clamp-on tip with a laser-etched logo. It mounts behind the retained DPF using factory-style hangers and MIG-welded construction.

Key Features

  • Selected aFe part 49-44128-P.
  • Three-inch 409 stainless main tubing with an internally interlocked flex section.
  • One polished 304 stainless tip: three-inch inlet, 4.5-inch outlet and nine-inch nominal length.
  • The exact manufacturer page specifies bolt-on installation without cutting or modifications for documented applications.
  • The original front band clamp is removed from the OE pipe by releasing its locking tab and reused.
  • Band-clamp torque: 40–45 ft-lb; re-tighten all clamps and hardware after 50–100 miles.
  • Manufacturer describes reduced EGT qualitatively, but no selected numerical test, horsepower or drone-free result is verified.

Fitment

For 3.0L LM2 diesel Silverado 1500 and Sierra 1500 only, with the manufacturer’s listed crew cab/short bed or extended cab/standard bed at 147.4-inch wheelbase, or crew cab/standard bed at 157 inches. The selected guide calls extended cab Double Cab. No gasoline, regular-cab, later LZ0 or unlisted wheelbase application is inferred. The exact selected retailer’s full named list is checked against these engine and cab restrictions. GMC’s official 2022 capability table explicitly marks 3.0L diesel unavailable on AT4X; that retailer-positive AT4X row is not added. The table below does not imply that all engines or all cabs of a named trim fit. The current exact manufacturer table lists both models for 2020–2022. The named-trim table is independently read from this polished selection’s retailer page; no black-selection-only years or trim approval are borrowed.

Specifications

Detail Value
Manufacturer Part Number 49-44128-P
Product type DPF Back
Selected tip 49T30454-P093; polished 304 stainless; 3-inch inlet x 4.5-inch outlet x 9-inch length
Main sections Front 05-244032; mid 05-244033; over-axle 05-244035; tail 05-244036
Extension / bands Extension 05-244034; four three-inch bands 05-41055 in the formal bill. Original DPF-connection band is reused.
Extension instruction conflict Header and current product page list crew/double short or standard beds and wheelbases 147.4/157 inches. Step 8 instead directs the extension for Crew Cab/Long Bed and says it is not needed for Crew Cab/Short and Standard Bed. That step does not establish an additional long-bed fitment or fully assign extension use for every listed double-cab configuration. Confirm the correct revision/configuration before assembly.
Tightening / clearance 40–45 ft-lb band-clamp specification. Align safe clearances from wires, hoses, brake lines, body and tires; no numerical clearance dimension is printed.
Procedure limits The selected 18-step guide has no sensor removal/refitting, battery disconnection or exhaust-cutting step. No such procedure is borrowed from another engine’s exhaust.
Follow-up Leak check after final front-to-rear tightening; re-tighten all clamps and hardware after 50–100 miles.
Emissions / test qualification Exact current manufacturer says no CARB EO number required; conflicting retailer California restrictions do not establish a numbered order or blanket approval. No measured selected EGT reduction, sound level or output gain is verified.

What's Included

  • The 49-44128-P kit includes one each front pipe 05-244032, mid-pipe 05-244033, over-axle pipe 05-244035 and tailpipe 05-244036.
  • One extension pipe 05-244034 and four three-inch bands 05-41055 as listed in the formal diagram. Resolve extension application and inventory actual clamping hardware before installation.
  • One selected polished tip 49T30454-P093. The other finish in the shared bill is an alternative, not a second included tip.
  • Reuse the original front band clamp and factory isolation mounts. No new particulate filter, muffler, sensor, gasket, intake filter or silicone coupling is established as included.

FAQ

What is the 49-44128-P?

It is the three-inch 409 stainless DPF-back for documented 3.0L LM2 diesel pickups, with a flex section and one polished 4.5-inch 304 stainless tip. It connects behind the retained particulate filter.

Does it require cutting the original exhaust?

The exact product page says no cutting or modifications for documented applications. The guide loosens the original band behind the DPF and removes the exhaust from its isolation mounts; it prints no stock-cut dimension.

How is the original front clamp reused?

After removing the original exhaust, use a flat-head screwdriver to release the clamp locking tab. Transfer that band to the new front pipe, connect behind the DPF and place the hanger in its original isolation mount.

Which extension-pipe detail needs confirmation?

The header and current page list short/standard-bed applications at 147.4 and 157 inches, but step 8 specifies the extension for Crew Cab/Long Bed and omits it for Crew Cab/Short and Standard Bed. Confirm the actual kit revision and configuration before assembly; do not infer an extra long-bed application.

Why is 2022 Sierra AT4X excluded from diesel mapping?

GMC’s official 2022 capability table marks the 3.0L diesel unavailable for AT4X, despite the exact retailer listing that trim. It is not a valid diesel application to add; no AT4X scope is added here.

Are all named trims and years manufacturer-confirmed?

Named support comes from the independently read exact polished retailer table, within the current manufacturer’s 2020–2022 diesel model/engine coverage. Actual cab, wheelbase and engine still control; the table is not blanket approval of every configuration.

Does the guide remove sensors or disconnect the battery?

No sensor-service or battery-disconnection step is printed in this selected guide. Do not apply another diesel engine’s sensor, plug, cutting or battery procedure to this system.

What tightening and final checks are specified?

Keep joints adjustable until the entire exhaust is assembled and aligned. Tighten evenly from front to rear using the printed 40–45 ft-lb band specification, check safe clearances and inspect for leaks after starting. Re-tighten all clamps and hardware after 50–100 miles.

Installation Instructions

  1. Confirm aFe 49-44128-P against the exact vehicle and installed equipment. Inventory the actual components and follow the selected manufacturer instructions and current vehicle service requirements.
  2. Inspect the components and let the exhaust cool. Wear protective equipment; professional installation is recommended. Confirm the extension-pipe instruction conflict and inventory the actual kit before beginning. Support the vehicle at its specified stand locations and separately support the original exhaust.
  3. Leave bands loose for adjustment. Loosen the factory band behind the DPF, release the original isolation mounts and remove the original exhaust. With a flat-head screwdriver, release the clamp locking tab and remove that band from the original pipe.
  4. Put the retained factory band on the new front pipe, connect it behind the DPF and place its hanger in the factory isolation mount. Do not introduce unprinted sensor-removal or cutting procedures.
  5. Resolve extension use for the actual documented configuration before proceeding. Step 8 calls for the extension on Crew Cab/Long Bed but says no extension for Crew Cab/Short and Standard Bed; this conflicts with the guide’s listed short/standard-bed scope and does not approve another cab.
  6. Fit the intercooled/mid-pipe, over-axle pipe and tailpipe in that order with the supplied three-inch bands, then install the selected tip. Adjust tip position and align the entire system with safe clearance from wires, hoses, brake lines, body and tires.
  7. Starting at the front, evenly tighten clamps and fasteners; the printed band-clamp torque is 40–45 ft-lb. Start the vehicle, check for leaks and repair any cause. Complete the work before removing the supports.
  8. Re-tighten all clamps and hardware after 50–100 miles. No fixed numerical clearance or separate sensor torque is printed.
