- Read B/P installation manual and parts diagram. Confirm black selection,actual FJ4.0L Y-pipe and dual-side routing. Inspect kit,allow exhaust to cool and use eye/hand protection. Support vehicle and old exhaust safely. Professional installation is recommended.
- Remove stock exhaust from REAR working FORWARD,preserving original rubber isolation mounts. On TRD Edition,REMOVE ORIGINAL REAR SKID PLATE AND BRACE. The manual does not instruct reinstalling those TRD parts. No cutting procedure is printed for this selected system.
- Lay out components as illustrated. Install muffler 05-144197 onto ORIGINAL Y-PIPE using ORIGINAL BOLTS,GASKETS and factory rubber mounts. SUPPORT MUFFLER WITH JACK STAND while installing. The manual does not specify flange torque.
- Install supplied clamps on muffler and insert LEFT and RIGHT over-axle pipes,hanging them on factory isolation mounts. Both pipe service labels are 05-144198 in own diagram; verify actual handed pipes rather than invent a replacement service number.
- Install supplied HANGER BRACKET 05-46222 and hardware. The installation diagram identifies added ISOLATION MOUNT 05-46050; hardware count,thread,length and numerical torque are not specified. Primary identifies this support for DRIVER-SIDE tube.
- Place supplied bands on LEFT and RIGHT tailpipe assemblies,then slip them onto corresponding over-axle pipes and use FACTORY AND PROVIDED isolation mounts.
