The manual itemizes individual 24-91020 elements; its accessory page and current manufacturer replacement listing identify 24-91020-MA as the pair service package. Verify aFe 54-83038R. Read all twelve pages and figures A-F on a cool engine. Disconnect the negative battery terminal. Remove eight original intake screws, detach the MAF harness from the cover and disconnect the sensor. Loosen the throttle-body clamp, remove the factory cover and lift out the intake. On 3.8L S models, detach the changeover valve and disconnect its hose line as illustrated. Transfer the original mounting grommet to the new housing. Remove the original filters to access the two vent screens, then transfer those screens using their four original screws. Transfer the original MAF to the new tube with the two M4 screws. Install both selected filters on the tube and secure their flange clamps. Place the silicone coupling in the vehicle with its logo facing upward; leave its two clamps loose. Seat the new housing firmly in the original grommet. Apply the supplied cap at the changeover-valve connection as shown in the applicable S-model procedure. Position the tube comfortably before securing the coupling clamps. Reconnect MAF and route its harness through the housing slots. Align the rear cover slots and tabs, protect the MAF harness as it passes through the cover, and secure the cover with four M6 screw-and-washer pairs. Verify all connections before reconnecting the battery. No numeric torque is provided. Recheck bolts, clamps and connectors after 100-200 miles.
The actual bench chart shows Pro 5R 520 CFM versus 415 CFM stock at seven inches of water, approximately 25.3% more; the other media value is a separate version. The dyno marks 171.65 versus 163.91 hp and 225.38 versus 215.23 lb-ft at 4,000 rpm, gains of 7.74 hp and 10.15 lb-ft. Its separate peak legend is 282.96 versus 278.20 hp and 242.57 versus 242.03 lb-ft, differences of 4.76 hp and 0.54 lb-ft. The chart identifies a 2009 997.2 3.6L with original headers, exhaust and ECU, 305/30R20 tires, a large fan, open hood, lynx engaged and AWD-dyno notes. Intake testing is August 10, 2018 versus February 26, 2019 baseline, SAE 1.04 for both and smoothing five; the baseline additionally notes fourth gear.
