Which way does the elbow face?Install the silicone elbow with the aFe logo on top. Leave the turbo-inlet size 044 clamp loose initially so the elbow can rotate for final alignment.
Are the two coupling clamps different sizes?No. This kit lists two size 044 clamps. Its filter flange clamp is separate; do not borrow a size 048 clamp from another intake.

Fit the three mounting grommets and top trim to the new housing, trimming the supplied seal to fit as instructed. Install the flat grommet into the one-inch tube port and choose the aluminum smog-pump fitting or cap according to equipment. Install the separate brass nipple using an 11 mm wrench; the manual gives no numeric torque. Place the elbow with logo UP and one size 044 clamp at the turbo inlet, leaving it loose to rotate for alignment. Press the housing onto all three battery-tray pins. Install the selected filter with retention bumps outside and its flange clamp loose. Insert the tube into the filter FIRST, rotate down into the elbow using the second size 044 clamp, align the elbow/tube and tighten the clamps. Reconnect the breather line at the SIDE nipple and any smog-pump line. Verify connections and recheck screws, clamps and connectors after 100-200 miles. No battery-disconnection, MAF-transfer, sensor-screw replacement or numeric torque instruction is provided.
