aFe 54-74102 is the Momentum GT intake with one Pro 5R filter for specified 2007–2008 GM V8 applications equipped with an electric fan. The original complete MAF cartridge fits between the filter and supplied coupling; no MAF cartridge or sensor is included. Its exact shared manual lists 4.8L, 5.3L, 6.0L and 6.2L, while the overview’s 6.2L-only sentence is narrower than the current headline and manual.
The current exact headline and shared 11-page manual list GM trucks/SUVs 2007–2008 with 4.8L/5.3L/6.0L/6.2L V8 engines, subject to the current page’s electric-fan-only condition. The overview’s 6.2L-only sentence is retained as a source discrepancy rather than deleting documented smaller-engine scopes. Original application rows and all year bounds remain unchanged; no new model or trim is added. Existing Express vans, HD trucks, Trailblazer/Envoy and hybrid rows have exact selected-part retailer positives, including engine-specific listings, but the broad manufacturer family does not independently resolve every housing, MAF, fan or hybrid layout. Those rows remain conditional source holds, not blanket physical-fit certification. In particular, Trailblazer LS/LT/Base rows must not imply its six-cylinder engines. Do not infer compatibility solely from a shared V8 displacement; verify the original cartridge, mounting and electric-fan clearance.

The original MAF cartridge is a complete reused assembly inserted into the filter; this is not the later kit’s two-M4 sensor-only transfer. No sensor screws or new MAF are listed. Transfer the original bottom retaining plug and seat the new housing in the factory grommets. The supplied hose connects to the vent fitting. The manual lists one large T-bolt clamp while an illustrated step uses the plural T-bolt clamps; the complete BOM lists the other four band clamps separately. Follow the actual supplied components rather than inventing another large T-bolt. The manual recommends initially fitting and tightening the T-bolt in its intended position before final assembly. Service supplies and the alternative filter are separate.
aFe Power develops application-specific intake, filtration, exhaust, cooling, tuning, suspension, drivetrain, and truck-performance components supported by product testing and documented installation requirements.
One 24-91079 Pro 5R filter. The shared manual’s alternative-media row is not another included filter.
Is a new MAF sensor included? No. Both current exact pages explicitly exclude a MAF cartridge or sensor. Reuse the original complete cartridge.
Does the kit require an electric fan?Yes. Both current exact pages specify electric fan only; actual fan and intake clearance must match.
Does the 6.2L overview erase the smaller-engine headline? No. The exact headline and manual also list 4.8L, 5.3L and 6.0L. Actual engine, housing and cartridge qualifications still apply.
Are the two couplings interchangeable? No. The MAF-cartridge coupling and throttle-body reducer have different dimensions and assigned clamp locations.
Must the original engine cover return?Yes. This exact manual removes it at the start and explicitly reinstalls it at the end.
Are every van, hybrid and Trailblazer row fully certified? No. Exact retailer positives are retained, but individual housing, MAF, fan, engine and hybrid configurations remain conditional verification holds. Six-cylinder Trailblazer coverage is not inferred.
What torque and recheck interval apply? No numeric torque is stated. Retighten connections after approximately 100–200 miles.
Verify aFe 54-74102. Work on a cool engine, retain original parts and follow the actual vehicle’s service precautions. This exact manual does not add a battery-disconnection step. Remove the engine cover, loosen the stock housing and throttle-body clamps, disconnect the MAF harness, lift out the stock housing and release the coolant-hose support clip from the original tube without opening the coolant circuit. Fit the selected filter into the new housing with the supplied large clamp loose, following the manual’s initial fit-and-tighten recommendation for the T-bolt. Install the 26-inch seal trim and transfer the bottom retaining plug. Firmly seat the housing in the factory mounting grommets. Insert the original MAF cartridge into the filter and tighten its band clamp. Put a #060 clamp on the MAF coupling and fit it over the cartridge; place the #064 clamp at its tube end, leaving it loose. Fit the throttle-body reducer with #060 at the throttle-body side and #072 at the tube side, leaving it loose. Slide the tube into both couplings, install the brass vent fitting and connect the supplied vent hose. Reconnect MAF, align and secure all connections and clamps, then restore the engine cover. Retighten all connections after approximately 100–200 miles. No numeric torque is specified.
Both current headlines advertise 19-percent airflow and 8 hp/11 lb-ft; the R overview instead says 3 hp/4 lb-ft. The linked R airflow chart shows 230 versus stock 193 CFM at 1.5 inches H2O, approximately 19.2 percent. The D page’s linked image has the same R-labeled figures, not independently identified dry flow testing. Both linked dyno images are identical and explicitly label a Pro DRY S comparison on a 2007 Yukon Denali 6.2L. Marked point differences are 229.41 minus 221.51 = 7.90 hp and 328.74 minus 317.41 = 11.33 lb-ft. Independent peaks 300.54 versus 298.09 hp differ by 2.45 hp, and 338.93 versus 335.89 lb-ft differ by 3.04 lb-ft. The R page therefore links a dry-labeled dyno rather than an independently selected oiled-filter result. Both May 6, 2014 runs use SAE 1.02 and 22% humidity; baseline is 74.58°F/28.87 in-Hg and intake is 74.45°F/28.86 in-Hg. Intake notes stock exhaust, start at 2,400 rpm, no brake, third gear, traction control and Stabilitrac off. Point and peak comparisons differ and do not guarantee gains. Current pages cite D-550-13 for some or all applications, while the exact shared manual says not CARB exempt and unavailable for California purchase or California-registered vehicles; its final EO-sticker instruction conflicts with that disclaimer. Official indexed text contains the family but does not reliably resolve all extracted model/year/engine rows. This source conflict remains explicit, with no blanket emissions certification of the original broad application list.
