Only the selected oiled element is supplied; the dry-media row is a separate version. Transfer the original MAF and tube mounting grommet. The new supplied grommet serves the automatic vacuum fitting or manual closure, and is separate from the original mounting grommet. Retain the factory inlet connection. What torque, battery and inspection interval applies?The exact manual gives no battery-disconnection step, numeric torque or mileage interval. It calls for periodic clamp inspection.
Verify aFe 54-82202. Read all twelve pages and figures A-E on a cool engine. Disconnect MAF and, on automatic vehicles, unplug the vacuum line. Loosen the original tube clamp and pull the intake from its mounting grommets. Use the supplied T20 bit to transfer the original MAF to the new tube with the two M4 screws. Transfer the original tube mounting grommet. On automatic vehicles, install the supplied grommet and aluminum vacuum fitting; on manual vehicles, close that opening with the supplied grommet and cap as illustrated. Wipe the filter and housing flanges clean before fitting the filter and securing the large housing clamp. Seat the housing in the factory grommets. Insert the new tube into the factory inlet tube and selected filter, then seat its mounting point. Lift the engine cover as shown and reroute the MAF harness around the oil-filter housing before reconnecting it; restore the cover. Reconnect the vacuum line on automatic vehicles. Secure all clamps and peel the protective film from the sight window. No battery-disconnection step, numeric torque or mileage inspection interval is given in this exact manual. Recheck clamps periodically.
The manufacturer claims up to 37% more flow, but no exact bench-flow chart is linked on the reviewed page; that percentage remains a manufacturer claim. The actual dyno chart marks 170.96 versus 161.94 hp and 277.62 versus 262.95 lb-ft near 3,234 rpm, gains of 9.02 hp and 14.67 lb-ft. Its separate maxima are 276.37 versus 265.65 hp and 281.52 versus 284.47 lb-ft, a 10.72 hp increase and 2.95 lb-ft lower peak torque. A point gain does not establish higher peak torque. Baseline testing is December 18, 2012 versus February 4, 2013 intake testing, SAE 1.01 versus 1.02, smoothing five, fourth gear and original exhaust.
