Installation Instructions

Verify aFe 54-46405. Read all twenty pages and figures A-N. Keep key outside vehicle; open hood and wait five minutes for computer shutdown. Observe the manual negative-battery warning and work on a cool engine. Release MAF connector tab. Remove two original scoop screws with T25, push scoop toward engine then lift. Transfer rubber trim from old airbox to scoop. Loosen both original tube clamps and remove tube. Lift rear housing mount first, then release the other two mounts. Remove original MAF cartridge and its two T25 screws. Insert cartridge into shorter supplied tube, align sensor with flat flange and reuse both screws. Transfer all three grommets to supplied housing and seat housing. Fit selected filter; optional plug closes auxiliary opening for lower noise, while manual associates open inlet with more airflow. Restore original scoop with its hardware. Fit bellows and first 048 clamp at throttle body and secure. Insert longer tube with second 048 clamp tight enough to allow alignment rotation without pulling out. Fit 056 clamp at its opposite end. Insert shorter tube with attached MAF cartridge into filter, then connect cartridge to longer tube. Adjust until cartridge sits flush against tube lip, secure 056 and all remaining clamps, reconnect MAF plug and lock tab. Verify all connections, mounts, screws and clearance; restore battery connection if disconnected. No numeric clamp torque is specified. Recheck after 100-200 miles.
