aFe 53-10017R is the Quantum Pro 5R intake for the specified Jeep 3.6L V6. Its five-rib sealed housing mates directly to one oiled filter through four captive screws, while an application-specific XLPE tube replaces the original intake tube. This is a complete engine-specific intake rather than a universal air filter.
Wrangler JL 2018–2025 and Gladiator JT 2020–2025 with the factory 3.6L V6, as explicitly named by the manufacturer’s shared R/D installation manual. The exact selected-R retailer table supports the named additions and extensions below, with original existing bounds and gaps retained. The current manufacturer page located for the D alternative advertises 2026, while a current exact R product page was not located; 2026 selected-R fitment is not newly certified here. Retailer 2019 Gladiator and 2022 Gladiator anniversary/Freedom rows are withheld pending model-year proof. This does not establish a 2.0L, 4xe, diesel, 392 or engine-swap application.

The shared manual shows both dry and oiled alternatives; this selected listing supplies only the Pro 5R filter. The four filter-retaining screws are captive in the filter assembly rather than separately enumerated BOM items. Reuse the original IAT sensor, tube and housing mounting grommets with their metal sleeves, underside vehicle mounting grommets, original vent line, three intake mounting screws and applicable harness/hose retaining clips. No new sensor is included. The 3.6L BOM calls the small coupling 3 inches long but does not state all diameters there; do not replace it with an assumed reducer from the turbo kit.

Which filter is supplied and how is it serviced? One 23-91133 Pro 5R filter is supplied, with five oiled cotton-gauze layers and an injection-molded base/top. Wash, fully dry and recharge using the specified aFe oiled-filter procedure; the dry alternative shown in the manual is not a second included filter.
How does the filter attach to the housing?Slide the filter into the Quantum housing and tighten its four captive screws for the filter-to-housing seal. The coupling clamps connect the tube and filter flange; they do not replace those four retaining screws.
Which original sensor and mounts transfer?Transfer the original IAT sensor into the supplied new grommet and adapter. Seat the adapter bead fully, then turn the sensor clockwise until its tab clicks. Transfer original tube and housing mounting grommets with their metal sleeves; return underside mounting grommets to the vehicle bracket if displaced. Reuse all three mounting screws.
How are the engine-specific vent connections assembled?Install the supplied aluminum vent fitting and reconnect the original CCV quick connector. The original IAT and coolant-line retaining clips also need secure routing. This kit does not use the 2.0L vacuum-generator assembly and 13-inch hose.
Which coupling clamps must be checked?Use the size-080 clamp at the filter side of the large bellows, the size-072 at its tube side and both size-048 clamps on the small throttle-body bellows. Tighten after alignment, without overtightening; no numerical torque is stated.
What does the manufacturer’s performance chart actually establish? The actual selected-R dyno chart identifies a Jeep JL with high-tuck exhaust in BOTH runs, original wheels, four-wheel drive, third gear from 1,500 rpm, an open hood and a black blade fan. The baseline has 209 miles and the intake run 4,662 miles. At approximately 4,500 rpm, plotted values differ by 11.08 hp and 12.93 lb-ft; separate run maxima differ by 2.95 hp and 14.80 lb-ft. This is a particular modified-exhaust comparison at different odometer readings, not a guarantee or an otherwise-stock-vehicle certification. Bench flow is separately measured at 7 inches H2O and is not engine horsepower.
What final checks and emissions limits apply?Reconnect IAT and CCV, restore harness and coolant-line retaining clips, check all four clamps and three screws, and recheck after approximately 100–200 miles. The current manufacturer D-alternative page and exact selected-R retailer cite CARB EO D-550-50, and the shared manual requires the enclosed EO label on a smooth clean surface on or near the device for inspection. A current complete exact-year exemption table was not independently available; the EO is not a blanket exemption for all later Wrangler/Gladiator years or configurations. Confirm the exact selected R kit, vehicle and current order scope before California purchase or installation.
Verify aFe 53-10017R. Work on a cool engine and retain original parts. Remove the three factory intake mounting screws and loosen the two original tube clamps. Disconnect the original CCV line using its grey clip and disconnect the IAT sensor. Free both IAT-harness clips and the coolant-line clip. Remove the original intake tube, then lift the original housing straight up. If its underside mounting grommets come away with it, return them to the vehicle bracket. Repair displaced harness or hose attaching clips as illustrated. Transfer the original tube mounting grommets and metal sleeves to the new tube. Install the supplied aluminum CCV vent fitting using a 20mm or adjustable wrench; the exact manual does not specify thread-sealant type or a numerical torque. Seat the new rubber IAT grommet and sensor adapter fully so the adapter bead cannot pop free. Lift the original IAT locking tab, turn the sensor one-quarter turn counterclockwise to remove it, then install it in the adapter and turn clockwise until the tab clicks. Transfer the original housing mounting grommet and metal sleeve into the new housing. Slide the selected filter into the housing and tighten all FOUR filter-retaining screws using a #3 Phillips screwdriver. Seat the housing pegs fully in the original bracket grommets and use one retained screw at the fender. Fit the large bellows onto the filter with the size-080 clamp and tighten that connection. Place the size-072 clamp loosely at its tube end. Fit both size-048 clamps loosely on the smaller bellows at the tube’s throttle-body end. Insert the tube in the filter coupling and rotate the smaller coupling onto the throttle body. Reconnect the original CCV line and IAT harness, secure both remaining original screws at the core support, and tighten all four clamps after alignment without overtightening. Restore the harness and coolant-line retaining clips securely and keep the line clear of contact. Recheck all connections after approximately 100–200 miles. No numerical tightening torque is specified.
