Rapid Induction intake for the specified Jeep 3.0L EcoDiesel

aFe 52-10005R is a Rapid Induction intake for the specified 3.0L EcoDiesel Wrangler JL and Gladiator JT. One Pro 5R filter seats in an 18-gauge wrinkle-black steel shield on the original lower airbox. An XLPE intake tube and the exact silicone elbow connect to the diesel turbo-inlet pipe.

Key Features

  • One selected Pro 5R filter with five pre-oiled cotton-gauze layers; washable, reusable and re-oiled after proper cleaning/drying.
  • 18-gauge steel top-mounted shield retains the lower factory airbox and four original upper-airbox screws.
  • Original MAF transfers in its original orientation using two supplied M4 Torx screws and the supplied T20 bit.
  • Silicone 3.5 x 3-inch, 58-degree elbow includes a keyed CCV insert: slash-cut toward turbo, notch aligned and hose faces fully touching.
  • Supplied new tube mounting grommet and mini CCV clamp; A/C protective sleeve and engine cover restored as instructed.
  • Selected-media flow at 7 inches H2O: 380 CFM, approximately 19% above stock; stock reference 320 CFM.

Fitment

For the factory 3.0L turbocharged EcoDiesel: Wrangler JL 2020–2023 and Gladiator JT 2021–2023, as explicitly listed by the current exact product page and shared illustrated manual. Match the named trim and year below to the actual diesel engine, original MAF and CCV-temperature sensor, mounting post and turbo-inlet arrangement. The exact selected-part retailer table distinguishes older Unlimited trim names from 2023 names; original existing bounds are retained rather than treating that naming change as proof of physical incompatibility. This does not establish gasoline, 4xe, other diesel-engine or later-year fitment. Do not read the broad “20–23” headline as a 2020 diesel Gladiator application; the manual starts that body in 2021.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which factory diesel applications does this intake cover for 52-10005R?

Which filter is supplied and how should it be maintained?

This listing supplies one 22-91201R Pro 5R element. Follow aFe’s cleaning, drying and blue-oil recharge procedure for the five-layer cotton-gauze Pro 5R element.

How must the CCV insert and hose be aligned?

Point the insert’s slash-cut face toward the turbo-inlet pipe, align the insert notch to the internal coupling tab, and press it fully in. The hose and coupling-port flat faces must touch without a gap. The manual warns of a check-engine light if these steps are incorrect.

Which pinch clamp is released during removal?

Carefully separate the pinch clamp at the original intake-tube side to free the CCV hose. Do not loosen the second pinch clamp on the hose side. The original hose and its temperature sensor remain in use.

How is the MAF transferred and which sensors reconnect?

Transfer the original MAF in the same orientation using the supplied T20 bit and both M4 screws. Reconnect both the MAF harness and the separate temperature-sensor harness on the CCV hose. Do not substitute a gasoline intake’s IAT-bung procedure.

What protects the A/C line and supports the new tube?

Move the original A/C-line protective sleeve upward where needed to protect against rubbing on the new tube. Install the supplied new rubber tube-mounting grommet and seat it on the original post after aligning the assembly.

Does the flow chart establish a horsepower gain or include both filters?

No. The selected Pro 5R chart result is 380 CFM, approximately 19% above stock at 7 inches H2O against 320 CFM stock. It is a bench-flow comparison, not an installed power test. One selected filter is supplied; the other medium is a separate alternative.

What final checks and emissions restrictions apply?

Secure the four reused airbox screws, intake clamps and mini CCV clamp, reconnect both harnesses, and restore the engine cover with its two original screws. Recheck after 100–200 miles; no numerical torque is given. The current exact manufacturer page and manual state non-CARB-exempt status and California purchase/use restrictions.

Installation Instructions

Verify aFe 52-10005R. Work on a cool engine and retain factory parts. Remove the two engine-cover screws, lift the cover clear of the oil-fill cap and pull it forward. Disconnect the CCV hose at the engine, the MAF harness and the temperature-sensor harness on the CCV hose. Loosen the clamp at the turbo-inlet pipe, release the intake tube’s housing clip, twist the tube off its mounting post and remove it. Carefully open ONLY the intake-tube-side pinch clamp and remove the CCV hose; do not loosen the second pinch clamp on the hose side. Reconnect the CCV hose at the engine, leaving its temperature-sensor harness disconnected for now. Remove and retain the four upper-airbox screws, lift out the upper airbox and original filter, and keep the lower airbox. Using the supplied T20 bit, transfer the original MAF into the new XLPE tube in the SAME orientation using the TWO supplied M4 Torx screws. Loosely fit the correct size-048 and size-056 clamps and silicone elbow to the turbo-inlet tube. Insert the supplied CCV adapter into the elbow’s small port with its SLASH-CUT face pointing toward the TURBO-INLET pipe. Align its notch with the internal tab and press it fully home. Fit the CCV hose so its flat face touches the port’s flat face with NO GAP. The manual warns that incorrect completion of these steps will cause a check-engine light. Remove the new filter’s preinstalled clamp, snap the filter into the new housing groove, and replace its clamp on the flange. Transfer all four original airbox screws to the new housing. Slide the A/C-line protective sleeve UPWARD so it protects against possible rubbing on the intake tube; production line positions vary. Install the housing on the original lower airbox and secure the four screws. Install the supplied NEW tube-mounting grommet, insert the tube into the turbo coupling and filter, seat the grommet on the original post and tighten the intake clamps after alignment. Tighten the mini clamp on the CCV hose, reconnect BOTH the CCV-temperature and MAF harnesses, and reinstall the engine cover on its pins with the original two screws. Check clearance and all secure connections and recheck screws, clamps and connectors after 100–200 miles. No numerical clamp, MAF-screw or other tightening torque is specified.

Important Disclosures

The exact current manufacturer page and the illustrated manual state that this intake is not CARB exempt and is unavailable for purchase in California or use on a California-registered vehicle. Exemption for another intake is not transferable. Correct CCV insert direction, keyed seating and gap-free hose contact are mandatory installation details; the manual warns of a check-engine light if those steps are incorrect. Keep the A/C protective sleeve positioned to prevent contact wear. The top-mounted shield retains the factory lower airbox but is not a sealed waterproof enclosure or increased-fording-depth certification. The linked selected-media chart measures airflow at 7 inches H2O against a 320-CFM stock reference; it is not an installed horsepower or torque test. Neither exact product page links a dyno chart, so no numerical power gain is independently established here.
