Silver Bullet spacer for exact engine and intake requirements
The aFe 46-38004 Silver Bullet spacer is for the specified 4.7L Toyota/Lexus V8 applications. It includes air-cleaner extender brackets and is not compatible with aFe intake systems 51-82502 or 54-82502.
Key Features
- 6061-T6 billet-aluminum serrated/helix entry design; claimed turbulence and reduced whistle do not guarantee an improvement on every setup.
- 6061-T6 billet aluminum with serrated/helix entry.
- Explicitly excludes aFe intake systems 51-82502 and 54-82502.
- Manufacturer response, turbulence and power statements are claims, not guaranteed results.
Fitment
| Years / source scope | Model | Exact requirements |
|---|---|---|
| 2005–2009 | Toyota Tundra / Sequoia | 4.7L V8 only; later headline years qualified below |
| 2005–2009 | Toyota 4Runner / Lexus GX470 | 4.7L V8; verify actual production and intake |
| 2006–2007 | Toyota Land Cruiser / Lexus LX470 | 4.7L V8 |
46-38004: The current page headline extends Tundra/Sequoia to 2010, but its 4.7L engine scope must not be applied to 2010 trucks with 4.6L or 5.7L engines. Toyota documents the 2010 Sequoia change from 4.7L to 4.6L; no 2010 extension is added. The mechanical manual starts 4Runner/GX470 at 2005, while older EO coverage is broader, so existing earlier 2003–2004 portions are withheld as a source conflict rather than declared physically incompatible. Its Tundra table also starts at 2000, unlike the current page's 2005; no earlier application is added. Named trim rows, including Sequoia Limited, remain conditional on the actual 4.7L engine, not fully certified by trim name.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the 46-38004?A model- and engine-specific Silver Bullet throttle-body spacer, not a complete intake or replacement throttle body.
Does it include a filter or coupling? The exact parts list below governs. Generic manufacturer page fields do not establish a supplied intake filter or coupling for this spacer.
Are gains guaranteed? No. Turbulence, throttle-response and whistle statements are manufacturer design claims, not guaranteed horsepower, fuel-economy or sound results for the actual engine.
Which sealing parts are used?Install the supplied gasket between spacer and throttle body, engraved spacer side toward the throttle body.
What is the correct torque? The exact manual specifies 89 in-lb for the throttle-body assembly. No numeric extender-bracket torque is provided.
Are all original search rows certified? The current page headline extends Tundra/Sequoia to 2010, but its 4.7L engine scope must not be applied to 2010 trucks with 4.6L or 5.7L engines. Can another spacer’s instructions be substituted? No. Gaskets, O-rings, brackets, screw sizes, control cables and intake restrictions differ by exact part number.
Does the EO reference cover every application? The current page references D-550-11 / D-550-42. Those complete tables were not independently read. Older D-550-17 coverage differs from the current mechanical scope; verify exact EO, installation and label conditions rather than assuming blanket exemption.
Installation Instructions
- Read the exact manufacturer instructions for 46-38004, verify the actual engine, intake, hardware and applicable emissions scope before removal.
- Remove the engine cover and inlet tube, remove the filter, disconnect the vacuum line, PCV hose and MAF harness, and remove the air-cleaner assembly.
- Disconnect the throttle-body harness and remove its bolts. Remove manifold studs by the manual's double-nut method and retain original hardware.
- Install the spacer engraved side toward the throttle body, with the supplied gasket on the throttle-body side. Use the supplied 6mm x 70mm bolts and flat washers; tighten the assembly to 89 in-lb.
- Reconnect the body harness. Install the air-cleaner extender brackets with their countersunk screws, align the assembly, and restore tube, vacuum/PCV lines, MAF connector, filter and clamps.
