aFe 56-70006R is the Takeda Momentum enclosed intake for the specified Mazda MX-5 Miata ND 2.0L applications. One Pro 5R filter fits the XLPE window housing and tube. The silicone bellows uses a supplied elbow and replacement PCV hose, the original MAF transfers, and a vinyl cap closes the disconnected sound-tube fitting.
Current exact manufacturer pages list Mazda MX-5 Miata ND 2016–2026 with the 2.0L engine; the linked 16-page manual ends at 2020. Each selected-part CI Motorsports table explicitly supports the named rows below, including later 2026 standard trims and the two 2020 100th Anniversary rows plus 2025 35th Anniversary. Later rows are qualified beyond the manual. Mazda identifies the U.S. 35th Anniversary as soft-top only; retailer RF 35th Anniversary rows are not adopted. This is not an approval for the international 1.5L engine or a related Fiat turbo application. Both exact pages expressly allow the separately purchased Silver Bullet throttle-body spacer 46-30001.

The exact current pages identify Momentum; older Stage-2 listing wording and the linked flow-chart Rapid Ind header do not change the enclosed configuration. The D-page generic feature bullet says Pro 5R, but its dedicated media description and exact alternate BOM identify oil-free Pro DRY S. The manual tells the installer to tighten three worm clamps, while its BOM separately lists only two #044 clamps; the filter-flange clamp has no separate service code/count. Retain the original housing bolt, bushing, collar and lower grommet, and install the supplied silicone mount separately. The housing plug is listed although the illustrated steps do not give a plug-installation step. No MAF extension, check-valve hose or numeric torque is listed. Spacer and cleaning supplies are separate.
aFe Power develops application-specific intake, filtration, exhaust, cooling, tuning, suspension, drivetrain, and truck-performance components supported by product testing and documented installation requirements.
One 24-91103 Pro 5R filter; the alternate-media BOM row is not a second supplied filter.
Does the D version need oil?No. Its dedicated description specifies three-layer oil-free synthetic, despite a generic Pro 5R feature bullet.
How does the PCV hose connect? The supplied elbow fits the bellows port; the supplied 13-inch silicone hose connects it to the valve-cover fitting.
What happens to the sound tube?Remove its intake-side assembly and close the remaining fitting with the supplied vinyl cap.
Which mounts are reused? One original lower grommet plus the original housing bolt, top bushing and metal collar; install the supplied silicone mount separately.
Is the MAF sensor or an extension supplied?Transfer the original MAF with two M4 x 10mm screws; no extension harness is listed.
Can the aFe throttle-body spacer be used? Both exact manufacturer pages explicitly allow the separately purchased 46-30001 spacer.
What torque and recheck interval apply? The exact manual supplies neither a numeric torque nor a mileage interval.
Verify aFe 56-70006R. Work on a cool engine and disconnect the negative battery terminal as directed. Disconnect the MAF harness, release its clip and unclip the coolant-reservoir line from the housing. Retain the housing bolt, rubber bushing and metal collar. Disconnect the original PCV hose at the valve cover, loosen the tube clamps, release the two upper-housing clips and remove the upper housing. Unclip and remove the intake coupling and sound-tube assembly, then cap the remaining sound-tube fitting with the supplied vinyl cap. Remove the lower housing. Transfer one original lower grommet and install the supplied silicone mount in the new housing; transfer the bushing and metal collar to its top mount. Push the filter into the housing until it locks. Lower and secure the housing using the original bolt. Fit the bellows and its two clamps at the throttle body, insert the tube into the bellows and its larger end into the filter, then align and tighten all three worm clamps as directed. Insert the elbow into the bellows port and connect the supplied silicone PCV hose between that fitting and the valve-cover fitting. Transfer the MAF with the supplied M4 x 10mm screws and reconnect its harness. Restore the negative battery connection before operation and check the retained lines and all connections. The manual supplies no numeric torque or mileage recheck interval; do not borrow 100–200 miles from another kit.
The current exact page claims 220 CFM and 13% flow increase. However, its linked 56-70006 chart has a Rapid Ind header and shows Pro 5R 230 CFM, Pro DRY S 220 CFM and stock 200 CFM at 7 inches H2O. These are inconsistent source values and are not combined into one certified percentage. The selected-media Dynojet image shows an OE-intake/OE-exhaust baseline January 10, 2019, fourth gear and a blade fan. The February 28, 2019 selected-intake run retains OE exhaust/fourth gear/blade fan and explicitly has the housing plug removed. Baseline SAE factor is 1.00; intake factor is 1.00; both use smoothing 5. At marked 6,585 rpm, 167.02 versus 160.98 hp and 133.21 versus 128.40 lb-ft differ by 6.04 hp and 4.81 lb-ft. Independent maxima 167.05 versus 162.39 hp differ by 4.66 hp; 150.42 versus 148.35 lb-ft differ by 2.07 lb-ft. The image does not state a model year, fuel or starting rpm to infer. Marked-point and independent-peak comparisons differ, and individual results vary. The current manufacturer pages state this product is not CARB exempt and unavailable for purchase in California or use on California-registered vehicles. The older manual separately restricts public-road use in California and states adopting its emissions rules; its race-use wording is not street-use exemption evidence.
