Installation Instructions
- Allow the vehicle to cool completely before beginning. The factory exhaust system holds significant heat after operation.
- Raise and secure the BMW M8 F91 or F92 on a lift or properly rated jack stands with support at all four chassis jack points.
- Unplug the factory active exhaust valve actuator connectors at both muffler assemblies and secure the wiring harness away from the work area.
- Loosen and remove the factory exhaust clamps at the catalytic converter outlets on both sides of the vehicle.
- Disconnect all factory muffler rubber hanger isolators along both sides and at the rear valance. Support the weight of the factory system before releasing the final hanger to prevent it from dropping.
- Lower and remove the factory catback assembly. Inspect all rubber isolators for cracking or deformation and replace any worn isolators before installation.
- Slide the Akrapovic titanium link pipes onto the catalytic converter outlets and align with the factory hanger positions. Attach supplied clamps hand-tight at this stage.
- Connect the Akrapovic titanium rear link pipes and route into the OEM hanger positions on both sides. Clip all hangers into the rubber isolators.
- Mount the Akrapovic titanium muffler assemblies to the rear link pipes and secure all rear hanger points. Fit the carbon fiber tips and tighten tip hardware to specification.
- Reconnect the factory active exhaust valve actuator connectors to the Akrapovic muffler valve ports on both sides.
- Confirm all clamps are fully engaged and the system is symmetrically aligned before applying final torque. Torque all clamps to the specifications listed in the included Akrapovic instruction sheet.
- Lower the vehicle and start the engine. Run through a complete idle heat cycle for 10 to 15 minutes. After the system cools, re-inspect all joints and re-torque any clamps that have loosened during the first thermal cycle.
