The CSF 8402 No Limit Billet Air-To-Air Competition Manifold is a purpose-built CNC-machined intake manifold for BMW S58 engines that removes the charge cooler entirely from the manifold housing. By relocating cooling duties to a larger front-mounted intercooler, it breaks through the 1500 WHP ceiling that drop-in charge cooler manifolds impose on serious drag racing builds. The design was proven at TX2K 2026 in ambient temperatures consistently above 90 degrees F, where three S58-powered vehicles ran 7-second passes, including the current world record holder for fastest BMW, Tom Wrigley Performance at 7.67 seconds and 183 mph. The manifold supports both external Air-to-Water and Air-to-Air intercooler configurations, making it the only competition-level S58 billet option proven in both cooling architectures at the same event.

Installation Instructions

  1. Before starting, obtain the BMW S55 77mm throttle body (OEM PN 13-54-7-597-871) and VTT-FAB B58/S58 to S55 throttle body extension harnesses if not already sourced, as these are required for proper fitment.
  2. Disconnect the negative battery terminal. Allow the engine to cool completely before handling any intake or fuel components.
  3. Depressurize the fuel system by removing the fuel pump fuse and cranking the engine for several seconds, then disconnect the battery again.
  4. Remove all intake ducting from the throttle body back to the turbo outlets. Label all vacuum, sensor, and boost hoses before removal.
  5. Disconnect the OEM TMAP sensor, all injector connectors, vacuum lines, and the PCV hose from the factory manifold.
  6. Remove the factory intake manifold mounting bolts. Carefully lift the manifold clear of the cylinder head and set aside. Inspect the head surface for debris before proceeding.
  7. Install the included CSF Thermal Rejection Manifold Spacer onto the cylinder head using the supplied hardware, ensuring the correct orientation per the included picture diagrams and BOM.
  8. Lower the manifold into position, aligning it with the spacer and head dowels. Snug all mounting bolts by hand before torquing to the factory specification in a cross pattern.
  9. Install the S55 throttle body flange and connect the VTT-FAB extension harness per VTT-FAB instructions.
  10. Install the included fuel rail, connect injectors or install the included block-off plugs if port injection will not be used at this time.
  11. Install the S58 billet oil filter housing adapter in the location provided. This part ensures the spin-off oil filter remains accessible without removing the manifold.
  12. Connect the OEM TMAP sensor, all retained vacuum and boost lines, and any additional sensor ports or NPT fittings as required by your specific setup.
  13. Route the external intercooler piping (air-to-air or air-to-water) from the front-mount intercooler to the manifold inlet. The plenum inlet angle is optimized to simplify this routing.
  14. Reconnect the battery, prime the fuel system, and check for fuel leaks at all injector and fuel rail connections before starting the engine.
  15. Start the engine and inspect all vacuum lines, boost hoses, and sensor connections for leaks at idle and under light throttle before moving to full-load dyno tuning.
