Frequently Asked Questions

What is the FOX883-06-059?

The FOX883-06-059 is a 2.5-inch Factory Series front coilover with a remote reservoir and Dual Speed Compression adjuster, designed for 2007-2018 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500 trucks equipped with BDS 4 to 6.5-inch lift kits. It is sold as a pair and includes application-specific Eibach racing springs.

Does the FOX883-06-059 work without a BDS lift kit?

No. The FOX883-06-059 is engineered specifically to interface with BDS 4 to 6.5-inch lift system geometry. It requires a BDS lift kit and an aftermarket upper control arm (UCA) for proper fitment and alignment. It will not fit the factory suspension.

What lift range does the FOX883-06-059 support?

The FOX883-06-059 supports 4 to 6.5 inches of front lift when paired with the correct BDS suspension system. Ride height is adjustable via the main spring retainer using a spanner wrench.

What does the DSC adjuster do on the 883-06-059?

The Dual Speed Compression adjuster on the FOX883-06-059 provides separate tuning for low-speed and high-speed compression damping. Low-speed (12 settings) controls body roll and dive during street driving, while high-speed (10 settings) governs impact absorption over rocks, ruts, and rough terrain.

Is the FOX883-06-059 compatible with 2019 and newer Silverado 1500?

No. The FOX883-06-059 is specific to the 2007-2018 Silverado 1500 and Sierra 1500 platform. For 2019 and newer models, FOX and BDS offer different part numbers for the T1 body style.

Do I need new upper control arms with the FOX883-06-059?

Yes. FOX and BDS both specify that aftermarket upper control arms (UCAs) are required when installing the FOX883-06-059. Do not install with stock upper control arms. Consult your UCA manufacturer for installation details.

What is the warranty on the FOX883-06-059?

FOX Factory coilovers are backed by a limited lifetime warranty against defects in materials and workmanship for the original purchaser. Warranty coverage does not apply to normal wear and tear, improper installation, or use in competition racing.

How do I adjust ride height on the FOX883-06-059?

To adjust ride height on the FOX883-06-059, lift the vehicle, loosen the pinch bolt on the main spring retainer (do not remove it), then turn the retainer with a spanner wrench to raise or lower preload. If the shock has locking rings, loosen the top lock ring first and re-tighten after adjustment.

What torque specs apply when installing the FOX883-06-059?

Torque the three top hat bolts or nuts to 24 ft-lbs. Torque the two lower bar-pin bolts to 50 ft-lbs. Always reinstall wheels and lower the vehicle before final ride height measurement and adjustment.

Installation Instructions

  1. Lift the vehicle and support it safely. Remove the front wheels.
  2. Disconnect and remove the factory front shock and spring assembly.
  3. Install the new aftermarket upper control arm per UCA manufacturer instructions.
  4. Route the remote reservoir hose so the driver-side reservoir faces toward the center of the vehicle and the passenger-side reservoir faces toward the rear.
  5. Connect the top hat of the coilover to the shock tower using supplied hardware. Torque to 24 ft-lbs.
  6. Install the reservoir bracket to the center outer mounting hole of the top hat.
  7. Attach the reservoir to the bracket using the supplied hose clamps via the bracket slots.
  8. Connect the lower eyelet mount to the lower control arm. Torque bar-pin bolts to 50 ft-lbs.
  9. Reinstall the front wheels and torque to factory specification.
  10. Lower the vehicle to the ground and drive forward and back several feet to allow the suspension to settle.
  11. Measure ride height and adjust the main spring retainer as needed using a spanner wrench.
  12. Steer lock-to-lock in both directions to verify proper clearance of all components before driving.
