Frequently Asked Questions

Does the H&R 23009-2 work with Porsche PASM?

Yes. The HRS23009-2 VTF springs are specifically engineered for vehicles equipped with Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM). The electronic damping adjustment function of PASM remains fully unrestricted at all VTF height settings.

Will the 23009-2 fit my 991.2 Carrera with the facelift?

Yes. The H&R 23009-2 is compatible with both 991.1 (2012-2016) and 991.2 facelift (2017-2019) Porsche 911 Carrera and Carrera S 2WD models. Always verify your specific configuration against the fitment notes before ordering.

Can I install H&R 23009-2 springs if my 911 has front axle lift?

No. The HRS23009-2 is not compatible with Porsche 911 models equipped with the front end or front axle lift system. H&R offers separate spring kits for lift-equipped vehicles.

What is the difference between H&R Sport Springs and H&R VTF springs for the 991?

H&R Sport Springs offer a fixed lowering amount at a lower price. The H&R 23009-2 VTF springs are adjustable, allowing you to dial in any ride height within the tested lowering range without swapping springs. VTF is the preferred choice if you want flexibility to adjust stance over time.

Does the H&R 23009-2 fit the Porsche 911 Targa and Cabriolet?

Yes. The 23009-2 is listed as compatible with Coupe, Targa, and Cabriolet body styles of the 2012-2019 Porsche 911 Carrera and Carrera S 2WD.

How does lowering vary between the 991 Carrera 3.4 and the Carrera S 3.8?

Actual ride height reduction varies by engine size, battery package, and model options as noted in H&R fitment documentation. The 15-35mm front and 20-40mm rear figures represent the full tested adjustment range. Your specific configuration may land at a different point within that range.

Is the H&R 23009-2 TUV approved?

Yes. The HRS23009-2 carries TUV approval, confirming it has been independently tested and certified for use on Porsche 911 991 applications within the specified lowering range.

Do the H&R 23009-2 VTF springs require an alignment after installation?

Yes. Any change in ride height will alter alignment angles. A full four-wheel alignment is required after installing the HRS23009-2 springs to restore geometry to within factory or preferred performance specifications.

Installation Instructions

  1. Safely raise and support the vehicle on a lift or jack stands. Do not work under a vehicle supported only by a floor jack.
  2. Remove the front and rear wheels.
  3. At the front, remove the factory sway bar end links, shock-to-lower-control-arm bolt, and any suspension components necessary to free the shock and spring assembly.
  4. Compress the factory front spring using a suitable spring compressor tool. Remove the spring seat hardware and extract the factory spring.
  5. Install the H&R 23009-2 front adjustable spring on the shock shaft. Set the adjustable collar to the desired starting ride height within the tested range and tighten the locking collar.
  6. Reassemble the front suspension in reverse order and torque all fasteners to factory specification.
  7. At the rear, access the rear spring perch by removing rear wheel, sway bar link, and shock-to-trailing-arm hardware as needed.
  8. Remove the rear spring and install the H&R 23009-2 rear spring in its place.
  9. Reassemble the rear suspension and torque all fasteners to factory specification.
  10. Reinstall all four wheels and lower the vehicle to ride height.
  11. Bounce each corner of the vehicle to settle the suspension before measuring actual ride height.
  12. Have a full four-wheel alignment performed by a qualified alignment technician after installation.

H&R

H&R Special Springs is a German suspension manufacturer founded in 1984 that produces premium lowering springs, coilover kits, sway bars, wheel spacers, and complete suspension systems for European, Japanese, and domestic performance vehicles. The brand's springs are manufactured in Germany using a progressive-rate design that provides a lower stance with improved handling compared to stock while maintaining the compliance needed for daily driving on imperfect road surfaces. H&R coilover systems including the Street Coilover and Sport Coilover lines provide adjustable ride height from approximately 1 to 3 inches of drop alongside matched shock absorbers that are calibrated for the specific vehicle's weight and suspension geometry. The brand's TUV and ECE certifications for European applications ensure compliance with European vehicle regulations, and H&R's decades of development testing on German roads and race tracks produce suspension systems with well-developed, confi...
