Upgrade Your Jeep Grand Cherokee Front Braking System with Rotora Stainless Steel Lines

The Rotora L.58030 is a direct-fit front stainless steel braided brake line kit engineered for 2011-2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee models, including the SRT8, SRT, and Trackhawk trims. Unlike factory rubber hoses that expand under pressure and degrade over time, the L.58030 uses a PTFE inner core wrapped in stainless steel braid to deliver consistent brake modulation, firmer pedal feel, and lasting durability. Every line in the L.58030 kit ships 100% pressure-tested at 3,500 PSI and meets DOT and FMVSS 106 compliance standards right out of the box.

Key Features

  • PTFE Inner Core: Teflon-lined inner tube resists expansion under pressure and will not degrade from long-term brake fluid exposure
  • Stainless Steel Woven Braid: Provides structural support, high abrasion resistance, and protection against incidental impact
  • Blue PVC Outer Jacket: Abrasion-resistant PVC coating over the braid for maximum chafe protection and strain relief at end fittings
  • 3,500 PSI Tested: Every L.58030 line is 100% pressure-tested in-house at 3,500 PSI before shipment
  • DOT and FMVSS 106 Compliant: Manufactured to meet and exceed federal motor vehicle safety standards
  • Direct Bolt-On Fitment: No cutting, bending, or fabrication required; all hardware included for straightforward installation
  • M10 x 1.0 Thread Engagement: End fittings use M10 x 1.0 threads; see the thread die note below if your vehicle has corroded or stripped threads
  • SRT8, SRT, and Trackhawk Compatible: The L.58030 front kit explicitly fits 2012-2013 Grand Cherokee SRT8, 2014-2021 Grand Cherokee SRT, and 2018-2021 Grand Cherokee Trackhawk models

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the L.58030 fit 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee models, or does coverage start in 2012?
The L.58030 fitment starts with the 2011 model year. The fourth-generation Grand Cherokee platform launched as a 2011 model, and the front brake flex line design is consistent across 2011-2021. Note that the SRT8 high-performance trim did not arrive until 2012, so 2011 fitment applies to the non-SRT trims (Laredo, Limited, Overland, and Summit).

Does the L.58030 front kit fit the Grand Cherokee SRT8, SRT, and Trackhawk?
Yes. The L.58030 covers the 2012-2013 SRT8, 2014-2021 SRT, and 2018-2021 Trackhawk at the front axle. Both the SRT and Trackhawk use Brembo multi-piston front calipers with M10 x 1.0 banjo bolt threads, and the L.58030 end fittings are engineered for that application. If you are upgrading only the rear axle on a non-SRT Grand Cherokee, that is a separate kit.

What improvement will I notice in pedal feel after installing the L.58030?
Factory rubber hoses expand slightly under hydraulic pressure, softening initial pedal travel. The PTFE core inside the L.58030 resists that expansion, transferring pressure more directly to the caliper piston. Most drivers report a noticeably firmer, more responsive brake pedal from the first press after the system is bled.

Is the L.58030 DOT compliant for street use?
Yes. Rotora manufactures the L.58030 to meet and exceed DOT compliance and FMVSS 106 Standards, making it fully legal for street, track, and highway use in the United States.

How long does installation take?
For a mechanically experienced owner with standard hand tools, a front brake line swap on the Grand Cherokee typically takes 60-90 minutes per side, including bleeding. Factor in additional time if you need to penetrate corroded fittings or chase threads with an M10 x 1.0 die.

What is the M10 x 1.0 die tip, and when do I need it?
The banjo bolt and hard line fittings on the Grand Cherokee use M10 x 1.0 threads. Years of exposure to road salt and moisture can corrode or partially strip these threads, making it difficult to seat new fittings properly. Before installing the L.58030, inspect both the caliper banjo port and the hard line union. If threads feel rough or damaged, run an M10 x 1.0 die through the fitting before threading in the new line to ensure a clean, leak-free connection.

How do I bleed the brakes after installing the L.58030?
After installation, open the bleeder screw at each front caliper and gravity-bleed or pressure-bleed until brake fluid flows clean and free of air bubbles, then close the bleeder screw. Pump the brake pedal several times with the reservoir cap open to purge remaining air. If the pedal remains soft or spongy after gravity bleeding, perform a full pressure or vacuum bleed on both front calipers. Always top off the reservoir with the brake fluid type specified for your vehicle (typically DOT 3 or DOT 4).

Will installing the L.58030 void my factory or aftermarket warranty?
Under the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, a vehicle manufacturer cannot void your powertrain or bumper-to-bumper warranty simply because you installed an aftermarket brake line. The manufacturer would need to demonstrate that the L.58030 specifically caused the failure being claimed. Always consult your warranty documentation if you have concerns about a specific coverage area.

Is the L.58030 compatible with ABS and electronic brake systems?
Yes. The L.58030 is a passive hydraulic component that sits in the flex line section of the brake circuit between the hard line and the caliper. It does not interact with or alter ABS modulators, electronic brake-force distribution, or stability control systems. All factory electronic braking functions remain fully operational after installation.

Does the blue PVC jacket hold up to engine bay heat and brake fluid contact?
The PVC jacket is designed for abrasion resistance and chafe protection, not direct heat shielding. Rotora routes the L.58030 in the same path as the factory flex line, which is positioned away from extreme heat sources. The PTFE inner core is chemically inert and will not degrade from brake fluid exposure even over extended service.

Installation Instructions

  1. Safely raise and support the front of the vehicle on jack stands rated for your vehicle's weight. Remove the front wheels using a 22mm lug nut socket.
  2. Open the brake fluid reservoir cap under the hood to reduce system pressure. Place an absorbent shop towel or drain pan beneath each front caliper to catch fluid spillage.
  3. Locate the horseshoe retaining clip (C-clip) at the upper hard line bracket where the factory flex hose connects. Use needle-nose pliers to pry the clip free and set it aside. The L.58030 kit uses the same clip mounting point.
  4. Using a 12mm wrench, loosen the metal hard line union where it threads into the top of the factory flex hose. If the hard line rotates with the fitting, apply penetrating oil and allow it to soak for 10-15 minutes before retrying. Do not force the hard line or it may crack.
  5. At the caliper end, use a 15mm socket to remove the banjo bolt securing the lower end of the flex hose to the caliper. Note the two copper crush washers, one on each side of the banjo fitting. These are single-use and must be replaced; new washers are included with the L.58030 kit.
  6. Remove the factory flex hose from the vehicle. Inspect the hard line threads and the caliper banjo port threads. If either shows corrosion or damage, chase them with an M10 x 1.0 die to ensure clean thread engagement.
  7. Clean the caliper banjo port and the hard line union with brake cleaner and a wire brush to remove any corrosion, old thread sealer, or debris.
  8. Thread the upper end of the new L.58030 line onto the hard line union by hand first, confirming smooth thread engagement before applying wrench torque. The block-end fitting has a keyed hex profile that locates into the bracket to prevent rotation during tightening.
  9. Seat the upper fitting into its bracket and reinstall the horseshoe retaining clip. Confirm the clip is fully seated and the fitting cannot pull free.
  10. Install a new copper crush washer on the banjo bolt, pass the bolt through the lower banjo fitting of the L.58030, add the second copper crush washer on the caliper side, and thread the assembly into the caliper banjo port by hand. Torque to approximately 17-20 ft-lb (do not overtighten; stripped banjo ports are a common and avoidable error).
  11. Reconnect the ABS sensor wire to its routing clips along the new brake line, following the same path as the factory line. Confirm the wire is secured and cannot contact the rotor or suspension components during steering lock-to-lock travel.
  12. Repeat steps 3-11 for the opposite front caliper.
  13. Open the bleeder screw at each front caliper one at a time and allow brake fluid to gravity-bleed until flow is steady and bubble-free, then close the bleeder. Alternatively, use a pressure bleeder or vacuum bleeder for faster results. Top off the brake fluid reservoir as needed throughout this process.
  14. With the wheels still off, have an assistant pump the brake pedal several times to pressurize the system. Inspect all connection points for seeping fluid. Correct any leaks before proceeding.
  15. Reinstall both front wheels and torque lug nuts to 100 ft-lb in a star pattern. Lower the vehicle and recheck the brake fluid level.
  16. Perform a static pedal test: with the engine off, pump the pedal firmly several times and hold. The pedal should feel firm and not travel to the floor. If the pedal remains soft, repeat the bleeding procedure before driving.
  17. Drive slowly in a safe area and perform 5-10 moderate brake applications from low speed to verify proper function before returning to normal driving.
