Installation Instructions

1. Safely lift and support the vehicle on jack stands. Remove the rear wheels.
2. Remove the brake drum. If seized, use a drum puller or gently strike the drum face with a rubber mallet. Inspect the drum braking surface for scoring and verify the diameter is within the service limit (9.055 inches discard spec for the Sentra). Resurface or replace if needed.
3. Before disassembly, photograph the complete spring and shoe arrangement for reference.
4. Using brake spring pliers, remove the upper return spring, lower return spring, hold-down springs, and retainer pins. Slide the brake shoes off the backing plate anchor and remove the adjuster assembly.
5. Clean the backing plate contact ledges with brake cleaner. Apply a thin coat of high-temperature brake grease to the ledge contact points only. Do not get grease on the friction material or drum surface.
6. Install the new adjuster assembly and SSH1046L shoes using the hardware from the included kit. Seat hold-down pins first, then attach return springs per your reference photograph.
7. Expand the adjuster until light drag is felt when rotating the drum by hand, then back off 1 to 2 clicks for proper running clearance.

9. Pump the brake pedal firmly until solid before moving the vehicle.
10. Perform 8 to 10 light stops from 25 mph to bed the shoes against the drum surface.
