Correct Rear Spring Bow on Your Lifted Jeep Wrangler JK

FAQ

What is the RK02659?

The RK02659 is a pair of rear lower coil spring correction wedges for the 2007 to 2018 Jeep Wrangler JK and JKU designed to correct spring bow after a lift installation.

Do I need these wedges if I install a Rock Krawler lift kit?

If a Rock Krawler rear coil spring is not already paired with correction wedges, this kit is recommended to keep the spring properly seated and reduce bow.

What problem do these wedges solve?

They correct the bowing that occurs in rear coil springs after a lift, which can otherwise cause the spring to rub against the rear track bar and lose effective spring rate.

Will these wedges add additional lift height?

No. The wedges are designed to straighten spring geometry rather than add ride height.

What material are the wedges made from?

They are made from durable polyurethane designed to hold up under repeated suspension cycling.

How long does installation take?

Most installers can complete the job in about twenty to thirty minutes per side with the vehicle safely supported.

Are both wedges the same size?

Yes, both wedges included in the kit are the same size and can be installed on either side of the rear axle.

What is the warranty on this kit?

Rock Krawler backs this kit with a 1 Year Limited Warranty.

Install Instructions

  1. Raise the rear of the Jeep and support it on jack stands at the frame rails
  2. Lower the rear axle using a jack until spring tension is released
  3. Remove the rear coil spring from the perch
  4. Position the wedge on the axle spring perch, aligning the locating tabs
  5. Reinstall the coil spring on top of the wedge, seating it fully
  6. Repeat the process on the opposite side
  7. Slowly raise the axle back into position and remove the jack stands
  8. Lower the vehicle and inspect spring alignment and track bar clearance before driving

Coilover Springs

Coilover Springs

Coilover springs are the replaceable compression springs that wrap around the shock body in a coilover assembly, determining ride height, spring rate, and the balance between comfort and handling stiffness. Swapping springs is the most direct way to tune a coilover setup for a new application without buying an entirely new system.Popular UpgradesLinear-rate springs in the 6 to 12 kg/mm range are the most popular choice for street performance and track day builds where predictable handling is more important than maximum compliance. Progressive-rate springs that soften on small bumps and stiffen under load are preferred for street cars that need to be both comfortable on rough roads and controlled in hard cornering. ID60 and ID65 springs are the most common inner diameter specifications across popular coilover platforms. What is the difference between linear and progressive coilover springs?A linear spring has a constant rate from full droop to full compression, providing consistent an...
