Fix Bump Steer and Protect Your Steering Geometry on a Lifted JK

Lifting a JK Wrangler throws off steering geometry and drops the tie rod and drag link right into rock-strike territory. The RockJock Currectlync High Steer Knuckles correct that by raising both components 2 3/4 inches, restoring proper angles while moving vulnerable steering parts up and out of harm's way. Cast from premium iron and finished in gloss black, these knuckles bolt in place of the factory units and retain every stock outer component for a clean, factory-style install.

About RockJock

RockJock 4x4 by John Currie designs and manufactures heavy duty off-road steering, suspension, and axle components engineered to exceed OEM strength and durability standards. Built for Jeep and off-road platforms that see real trail use, RockJock parts are developed alongside a full ecosystem of matching drag links, tie rods, and trac bars so upgrades install as a complete, correctly engineered system rather than a compromise.

FAQ

What is the RJ-437100-101?

The RJ-437100-101 is a pair of RockJock Currectlync high steer knuckles for JK Wrangler and Wrangler Unlimited models. They raise the tie rod and drag link mounting points 2 3/4 inches to correct steering geometry on lifted Jeeps and move steering components away from rocks and trail obstacles.

Do these knuckles work with a stock lift height?

They are designed primarily for lifted JK Wranglers where the factory steering geometry has been altered. On a stock height Jeep the raised geometry is unnecessary, so these knuckles are best suited to vehicles running a suspension lift.

Will my factory ball joints and axles still work with this kit?

Yes. The knuckles are designed to retain all factory outer components including ball joints, unit bearings, outer axles, brakes, and dust shields, so no additional purchases are needed for those parts.

Do I need a new tie rod and drag link to use these knuckles?

RockJock strongly recommends installing the RJ-437100-101 as part of one of their complete high steer kits, which include a matching forged drag link and chromoly tie rod. Stock or other aftermarket rods have not been tested with this knuckle geometry.

What wheel size is required with this kit?

RockJock specifies a minimum 17 inch diameter wheel with up to 6 inches of wheel backspacing to maintain proper clearance with the raised knuckle geometry.

How much bump stop travel do I need after installing this kit?

A minimum 2.2 inch bump stop extension is mandatory to prevent components from contacting each other under full suspension articulation.

Does this kit work with a Dana 44 front axle?

Yes. The RJ-437100-101 is compatible with factory Dana 30 or Dana 44 front differentials, as well as aftermarket axles that retain the factory spec inner C-knuckle design.

Can I add a hydraulic steering ram assist system with this kit?

Yes. The knuckle geometry is designed to work with RockJock's ram assist bracket kits, allowing installation of a hydraulic assist steering ram in addition to or instead of a standard steering stabilizer shock.

Install Instructions

  1. Support the vehicle safely and remove the front wheels
  2. Disconnect the tie rod, drag link, and stabilizer shock from the factory knuckles
  3. Remove the factory ball joints from the stock knuckles and transfer them to the new RockJock knuckles
  4. Install the new high steer knuckles onto the axle following the provided step by step instructions
  5. Reinstall unit bearings, brakes, and dust shields onto the new knuckles
  6. Install the steering stop bolts and jam nuts into the provided threaded holes and adjust lock-to-lock travel
  7. Reconnect a compatible tie rod, drag link, and stabilizer shock or ram assist system
  8. Torque all hardware to specification and verify a minimum 2.2 inch bump stop extension is installed
  9. Perform a front end alignment before returning the vehicle to normal use
