The SPL TR E9X replaces the factory tension rod on BMW E9X 3 Series, E8X 1 Series, and compatible F8X M-Series models with a fully adjustable, gun-drilled 2024 billet aluminum assembly that provides a wide range of front caster adjustment. Caster tuning with the SPL TR E9X optimizes turn-in response, corrects left-to-right caster variances common on modified or crashed vehicles, and allows anti-dive geometry tuning using the included stainless steel spacers. Hardened JMX FK rod ends replace the factory rubber bushing, eliminating compliance and delivering direct, predictable front end feel. These will not fit xDrive or AWD vehicles.

What adjustment does the SPL TR E9X provide?
The SPL TR E9X provides front caster adjustment, allowing you to dial in optimal turn-in response, correct left-to-right caster variance, and tune anti-dive geometry using the included stainless steel spacers. This is critical for lowered vehicles and track setups where caster angle affects steering feel and stability.
How much caster can I add with the SPL TR E9X?
The rotating clamp design provides a wide caster adjustment range beyond OEM limits, giving alignment technicians the travel needed for both street performance and dedicated track configurations on E9X, E8X, and compatible F8X platforms.
Will the SPL TR E9X fit my xDrive or AWD BMW?
No. The SPL TR E9X is designed for rear-wheel-drive E9X, E8X, and F8X models only. It is not compatible with xDrive or AWD variants.
Is the SPL TR E9X street legal?
Yes. The SPL TR E9X is a suspension alignment component and does not affect emissions or safety systems. It is appropriate for street use in all 50 states. A professional wheel alignment is required after installation.
What are the anti-dive spacers used for?
The included stainless steel spacers allow you to adjust the front anti-dive geometry by repositioning the tension rod pivot point. This can reduce front dive under hard braking, which is beneficial for track-focused vehicles.
How do I know the correct length to set the SPL TR E9X?
Pre-set the SPL TR E9X to match the center-to-center length of the OEM tension rod before installation. Final caster setting is confirmed on an alignment rack after installation.
Does installing the SPL TR E9X void my factory warranty?
Under the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, a manufacturer cannot void your powertrain warranty solely because you installed an aftermarket suspension part, unless they can prove the part directly caused the failure. Consult your dealer for details on your situation.
What makes the JMX rod end different from a standard FK rod end?
The JMX is a hardened, high-misalignment version of the FK spherical bearing rod end, engineered to withstand the higher lateral and axial loads encountered in a front tension rod application where misalignment angles can be significant.

Aftermarket suspension systems improve handling, ride quality, and ride height adjustment beyond what the factory suspension provides. From lowering springs and coilover kits for sport handling to lift kits and leveling kits for truck and SUV off-road capability, quality suspension components transform how a vehicle rides and handles. Popular Suspension Upgrades Popular suspension upgrades include coilover kits for adjustable ride height and damping, sport lowering springs for improved handling and reduced body roll, performance shock absorbers and strut assemblies, sway bar and end link upgrade kits, subframe brace kits, and complete suspension packages for lifted trucks and off-road SUVs. Alignment kits including camber bolts and camber arms are also frequently ordered after ride height changes. What is the difference between coilovers and lowering springs? Coilovers are complete shock and spring assemblies with adjustable ride height set by threading the spring perch on the shock...

Suspension arms and components include the control arms, camber adjustment arms, traction bars, toe arms, and tie rod assemblies that define suspension geometry and connect the wheel hubs to the vehicle chassis. Quality suspension arm upgrades correct geometry on modified vehicles and replace worn factory components to restore precise handling. Popular Suspension Arm Upgrades Popular suspension arm upgrades include adjustable rear camber arm kits for correcting camber on lowered vehicles, rear traction arm replacement kits, tubular front lower control arms for improved geometry and clearance, adjustable toe arm kits, upgraded tie rod ends with improved ball joint construction, and full rear suspension arm upgrade packages for popular sport and performance platforms. Why do lowered vehicles need adjustable suspension arms? Lowering a vehicle changes the geometry of the suspension arms relative to the factory-intended range of motion, introducing excessive negative camber in the rear ...
