The SPL TRE R35 Front Outer Tie Rod Ends are a Titanium Series bumpsteer adjustment kit designed for the Nissan GT-R (R35), Nissan 370Z, and Infiniti G35 and G37. When these vehicles are lowered significantly or set up for performance alignment, the stock tie rod end geometry causes the wheel to steer in and out as the suspension moves through its travel, a phenomenon known as bumpsteer. The SPL TRE R35 corrects this by allowing the tie rod end pivot point to be relocated vertically using precision-machined stainless steel spacers in 1/2-inch, 1/4-inch, and 1/8-inch increments. FK High Misalignment PTFE-lined rod ends provide maximum articulation at full lock without binding, while a black anodized 6061 aluminum turnbuckle accepts thread-in adjustment. Electroless nickel-plated hardened 4140 chromoly tapered studs mate precisely with the factory knuckle taper for zero slop. The result is smoother steering response, reduced deflection on corner entry, and the ability to prevent inner tie rod failure caused by extreme bind on heavily lowered cars.

What is bumpsteer and why does it matter on the GT-R or 370Z?
Bumpsteer is unintended steering input caused by the tie rod geometry pulling the wheel toe in or out as the suspension compresses or rebounds. On stock-height GT-R and 370Z platforms it is minimal, but once the car is lowered significantly or the suspension geometry is altered, bumpsteer increases and causes the car to dart on corner entry and over bumps. The SPL TRE R35 allows the tie rod pivot height to be adjusted to minimize bumpsteer at any ride height.
How do the included spacers correct bumpsteer?
The stainless steel spacers (1/2-inch, 1/4-inch, and 1/8-inch) are installed between the knuckle and the SPL TRE R35 tapered stud mounting flange. By stacking spacers, the pivot point of the outer tie rod end is raised relative to the knuckle, adjusting the tie rod angle to match the steering rack centerline and minimize bumpsteer at a given ride height. Fine-tuning is done on a bumpsteer gauge during alignment.
Why are FK High Misalignment rod ends used instead of standard rod ends?
At maximum steering lock, a standard rod end can bind if the tie rod angle exceeds its articulation range. The FK High Misalignment rod ends in the SPL TRE R35 have a larger articulation angle, allowing full steering lock without bind even on lowered vehicles running wide fitments, and preventing the stress that causes inner tie rod failure.
What does the tapered chromoly stud do that a standard bolt cannot?
The electroless nickel-plated 4140 chromoly tapered stud matches the OEM knuckle taper precisely. This ensures the stud seats and locks into the knuckle without slop, just like the factory tie rod end. A standard bolt would leave clearance in the tapered bore, allowing micro-movement that degrades steering feel and accelerates wear.
Does the SPL TRE R35 fit the Infiniti G35 and G37 as well as the GT-R and 370Z?
Yes. These links fits the 2007 to 2008 Infiniti G35, 2009 to 2013 Infiniti G37, and 2015 Infiniti Q40, in addition to the Nissan GT-R and 370Z. All share the same front outer knuckle tie rod taper and steering geometry.
Is a professional alignment required after installation?
Yes. Front toe will change when the outer tie rod ends are replaced, and bumpsteer correction requires a bumpsteer gauge to dial in properly. A professional four-wheel alignment with bumpsteer measurement is required for best results.
Will installing these links affect my factory warranty?
Under the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, Nissan or Infiniti cannot void your entire vehicle warranty solely because you installed an aftermarket suspension part. They must demonstrate that the specific aftermarket component directly caused the failure in question. Consult your dealer for details specific to your situation.
What torque values apply to the tapered stud nut during installation?
Torque the tapered stud nut to OEM specification for the front outer tie rod end on your specific vehicle. For most GT-R and 370Z models, this is approximately 58 to 72 Nm (43 to 53 ft-lbs). Always verify against Nissan or Infiniti service documentation. Use a cotter pin or castellated nut arrangement as specified to prevent nut loosening.
