Rear Toe Links with Eccentric Lockout for BMW M2, M3, M4 (F8X and G8X)

The SPL RTAEL F8X is purpose-built for BMW performance enthusiasts running F80 M3, F82/F83 M4, F87 M2, and G-chassis M2/M3/M4 platforms. The SPL RTAEL F8X replaces the OEM rubber-bushed rear toe links with a fully adjustable billet assembly using gun-drilled 2024 aluminum tubes, PTFE-lined FK Heim joints, and a 6061-T6 aluminum eccentric lockout washer system. The lockout washer prevents toe rotation under high lateral and braking loads, keeping your alignment exactly where it was set. Whether preparing for HPDE events, time trials, or a street performance build, these rear toe links provide the adjustability and rigidity that OEM components cannot match.

Features and Benefits

  • Gun-drilled 2024 aluminum main links, black anodized for durability and appearance
  • 360-degree rotating 6061-T6 aluminum clamp design prevents bind throughout the full suspension travel range
  • Low-friction 3-piece PTFE-lined FK rod ends deliver precise steering feedback without deflection
  • 6061-T6 aluminum eccentric lockout washers lock toe angle in place after alignment is complete
  • Blue anodized Ti-6Al-4V titanium socket head cap screws for reduced weight and maximum corrosion resistance
  • Grade 10.9 hex cap bolts and prevailing torque lock nuts at all mounting points
  • Fits F8X M2/M3/M4 and confirmed fitment on G8X G80/G82/G83 M3/M4 and G87 M2
  • Sold as a pair, fully assembled and ready to install
  • Made in the USA by SPL Parts

Frequently Asked Questions

What vehicles does the SPL RTAEL F8X fit?
These rear toe links fit the F80 M3, F82/F83 M4, F87 M2, and confirmed G-chassis G80/G82/G83 M3/M4 and G87 M2. This covers 2016-2021 M2, 2015-2023 M3, and 2015-2025 M4 in various trims. They do not fit non-M 3 Series or 4 Series models.

What adjustment range does the SPL RTAEL F8X provide?
These toe links provide approximately +/-6mm of adjustment from the OEM toe position, allowing technicians to set rear toe for square alignment on the street or aggressive toe-in configurations for track stability.

How does the eccentric lockout work?
Once the desired toe angle is dialed in at the alignment rack, the 6061-T6 aluminum eccentric washer is rotated to engage and then torqued against the subframe bracket. This prevents the link tube from rotating under cornering, braking, or acceleration loads.

Does this set also fit the G80/G82 M3/M4 and G87 M2?
Yes. SPL Parts has confirmed fitment on the G-chassis M3, M4, and M2. The rear suspension geometry at the toe link mounting points carried over from the F-chassis to the G-chassis on M models.

Are these toe links appropriate for a street-driven M4?
Yes. The PTFE-lined FK rod ends provide smooth articulation and acceptable NVH levels for street driving. The eccentric lockout actually improves long-term alignment stability compared to OEM rubber bushings that deflect and wear over time.

Will installing the SPL RTAEL F8X void my BMW warranty?
Under the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, a manufacturer or dealer cannot void a factory warranty solely because an aftermarket part was installed. They must demonstrate that the aftermarket component caused the specific failure before denying a warranty claim.

What torque specification applies to the subframe bolt?
Torque the subframe end bolt to 73.7 ft-lbs (100 Nm). Use OEM torque specs at the knuckle end. Always re-torque after the first heat cycle and confirm alignment has not shifted before returning to normal use.

How do these rod ends compare to OEM rubber bushings?
OEM rubber bushings flex and deflect under load, which causes the toe angle to change dynamically during cornering. The PTFE-lined FK Heim joints used in the SPL RTAEL F8X have minimal compliance, keeping the toe angle at exactly the value set at the alignment rack for more consistent and predictable handling on track.

Installation Instructions

  1. Lift and support the vehicle safely on rated jack stands. Remove the rear wheels.
  2. Locate the rear toe links connecting the subframe to the rear knuckle on each side.
  3. Use a floor jack to support the rear knuckle before removing the toe link to prevent the suspension from dropping suddenly.
  4. Remove the OEM toe link mounting bolts at both the subframe and knuckle attachment points.
  5. Set the SPL RTAEL F8X rod ends to the approximate OEM link length to provide a baseline toe setting at installation.
  6. Install the toe links using the supplied grade 10.9 hardware at the subframe end. Use OEM hardware at the knuckle end.
  7. Position the eccentric lockout washers at the subframe end and leave them loose until after alignment is completed.
  8. Snug all fasteners and reinstall the rear wheels. Lower the vehicle to ride height.
  9. Have a professional four-wheel alignment performed to set the desired rear toe angle. Adjust by rotating the link tube.
  10. Once target toe is confirmed, torque the subframe end bolt to 73.7 ft-lbs (100 Nm) and secure the eccentric lockout washer in position.
  11. Re-torque all fasteners after the first heat cycle and re-check alignment before the next track session.

Control Arms

Control Arms

Control arms are the key suspension linkages that connect the wheel hub and knuckle assembly to the vehicle frame, controlling wheel travel through both compression and droop cycles. Worn OEM control arms with loose ball joints or deteriorated bushings cause vague steering, tire wear, and handling inconsistency that only go away with replacement or upgrade.Popular UpgradesTubular steel upper control arms for lifted trucks and SUVs are the most popular upgrade in the control arm category, correcting the geometry compromised by a suspension lift and restoring proper caster angle and ball joint centering. Adjustable upper control arms allow alignment angles like caster and camber to be dialed in precisely after a lift or lowering modification. Replacement lower control arms with polyurethane or solid aluminum bushings improve response and longevity compared to worn OEM rubber mounts. Why do I need new control arms after a lift kit?A suspension lift changes the angle at which the OEM upp...
