The SPL RTR F8X Rear Traction Links address the understeer-on-acceleration and wheel-hop behavior common to M2, M3, and M4 models running on stock rubber-bushed rear suspension. The factory lower rear traction rod uses rubber bushings that compress under hard acceleration and braking, allowing the entire rear knuckle to rotate and shift anti-squat and bumpsteer geometry away from the calibrated baseline. The SPL RTR F8X replaces those bushings with gun-drilled 2024 aluminum links and 3-piece PTFE-lined FK rod ends, locking the knuckle position and restoring the geometry the engineers intended. The 6061-T6 aluminum rotating clamp makes length adjustment precise and repeatable, enabling fine-tuning of anti-squat characteristics to match your alignment setup. Compatible with all F80, F82, F83, F87, G80, G82, G83, and G87 variants.

What is the difference between the SPL RTR F8X and the SPL RTA F8X?
The SPL RTR F8X is the rear traction link (the lower longitudinal arm that controls fore-aft knuckle position and governs anti-squat and traction characteristics). The SPL RTA F8X is the rear toe link (the lateral arm that controls toe angle). For a complete adjustable rear geometry kit, both are typically installed together.
Will the SPL RTR F8X reduce wheel hop on hard launches?
Yes. Wheel hop is caused in part by bushing deflection allowing the rear knuckle to oscillate during aggressive acceleration. These links eliminate that compliance by replacing the factory rubber bushing with a PTFE-lined FK rod end, which dramatically reduces or eliminates wheel hop in most applications.
Can I adjust anti-squat with these links?
Yes. The 360-degree rotating clamp on the SPL RTR F8X allows fine-tuning of the traction link length, which directly affects anti-squat and anti-lift geometry. Lengthen the link to increase anti-squat; shorten to reduce it. Most street and track setups benefit from a modest adjustment relative to OEM length.
Does the SPL RTR F8X fit both the older F-chassis and the newer G-chassis M2/M3/M4?
Yes. The rear subframe traction link mounting geometry is shared across the F80/F82/F83/F87 and G80/G82/G83/G87 chassis generations. These links fit all of them without modification.
What temperature rating do the FK rod end liners carry?
The PTFE liner is rated from -65 to 325 degrees Fahrenheit, ensuring durability through sustained track-day heat cycles and cold-weather street driving.
Are these suitable for daily-driven street cars as well as track cars?
Yes. The SPL RTR F8X is designed for both high-performance street use and competition applications. The FK rod ends are built to handle the continuous load cycles of daily driving while providing the precision required on track.
Will installing the SPL RTR F8X affect my BMW factory warranty?
Under the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, BMW cannot void your entire vehicle warranty solely because you installed an aftermarket suspension component. They must demonstrate that the specific part directly caused the failure in question. Consult your BMW dealer for details specific to your situation.
What fastener torque values apply during installation?
Torque the subframe-side and knuckle-side traction link fasteners to OEM BMW specification for your specific model year. Most F-series and G-series M cars specify approximately 100 Nm (74 ft-lbs) for rear suspension arm fasteners. Always verify against the BMW service documentation for your vehicle.

Control arms are the key suspension linkages that connect the wheel hub and knuckle assembly to the vehicle frame, controlling wheel travel through both compression and droop cycles. Worn OEM control arms with loose ball joints or deteriorated bushings cause vague steering, tire wear, and handling inconsistency that only go away with replacement or upgrade.Popular UpgradesTubular steel upper control arms for lifted trucks and SUVs are the most popular upgrade in the control arm category, correcting the geometry compromised by a suspension lift and restoring proper caster angle and ball joint centering. Adjustable upper control arms allow alignment angles like caster and camber to be dialed in precisely after a lift or lowering modification. Replacement lower control arms with polyurethane or solid aluminum bushings improve response and longevity compared to worn OEM rubber mounts. Why do I need new control arms after a lift kit?A suspension lift changes the angle at which the OEM upp...
