Rear Traction Links for the Toyota GR Supra and BMW Z4 on the G29 Platform

The SPL RTR G29 Rear Traction Links replace the factory rubber-bushed lower rear traction rods on the Toyota GR Supra, BMW Z4, and the full G20/G21/G22/G23/G24/G42 platform. Under hard acceleration and braking, the stock rubber bushings compress and allow the rear knuckle to shift longitudinally, degrading traction, increasing wheel hop tendency, and changing anti-squat geometry away from baseline. The SPL RTR G29 eliminates that compliance by substituting gun-drilled 2024 aluminum links and 3-piece PTFE-lined FK rod ends manufactured in Connecticut. The integrated 6061-T6 aluminum rotating clamp makes length adjustment a single-person operation and enables fine-tuning of anti-squat and rear bumpsteer characteristics to suit your setup. Compatible with GR Supra, Z4, and all G-series 3 and 4 Series platform chassis sharing the CLAR rear subframe geometry.

What is the difference between the SPL RTR G29 and the SPL RTA G29?
The SPL RTR G29 is the rear traction link (lower longitudinal arm), which governs fore-aft knuckle position, anti-squat, and traction characteristics. The SPL RTA G29 is the rear toe link (lateral arm) controlling toe angle. For a complete adjustable rear geometry solution, most enthusiasts install both together.

Will the SPL RTR G29 reduce wheel hop on the GR Supra or Z4?
Yes. Wheel hop occurs when the rear knuckle oscillates under acceleration as rubber bushings alternately compress and rebound. These links replace those bushings with PTFE-lined FK rod ends, eliminating the oscillation and improving launch stability.

Can I tune anti-squat with the SPL RTR G29 installed?
Yes. The 360-degree rotating clamp allows you to lengthen or shorten the traction link relative to stock, which directly adjusts anti-squat geometry. Lengthening the link increases anti-squat; shortening it reduces anti-squat. Most builds benefit from a small adjustment relative to OEM length, set at the alignment shop.

Does the SPL RTR G29 fit BMW 330i, 430i, and M340i in addition to the GR Supra and Z4?
Yes. These links fit the full G20/G21/G22/G23/G24 and G42 lineup because all of these platforms share the CLAR architecture rear subframe traction link geometry. This includes the 230i, 330i, 330e, 430i, M340i, M440i, and all their xDrive variants.

What is the operating temperature range of the FK rod ends?
The PTFE liner is rated from -65 to 325 degrees Fahrenheit, covering all conditions from cold-climate street driving to sustained track use.

Yes. The SPL RTR G29 is designed for high-performance street and competition use. The FK rod ends are built to handle continuous load cycles while providing the precision required on track. No harshness penalty is expected for typical street driving.

Will installing these links affect my factory warranty?
Under the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, the manufacturer cannot void your entire vehicle warranty solely because you installed an aftermarket suspension part. The manufacturer must demonstrate a direct causal link between the aftermarket component and the specific failure being claimed.

What torque values should I use for the chassis fasteners?
Torque both the subframe-side and knuckle-side fasteners to OEM specification for your specific model year. For most G-series models, rear suspension arm bolts torque to approximately 100 Nm (74 ft-lbs). Always verify against BMW or Toyota service documentation for your vehicle.

Installation Instructions

  1. Lift the vehicle and support safely on jack stands; support the rear knuckle to prevent suspension droop.
  2. Remove the OEM rear traction link by unbolting the subframe-side and knuckle-side fasteners.
  3. Measure the OEM link length to set the SPL RTR G29 to the same starting length.
  4. Thread the SPL RTR G29 into both mounting locations and hand-tighten only at this stage.
  5. Torque both fasteners to OEM specification per the BMW or Toyota service manual for your model year.
  6. Reinstall the rear wheel and lower the vehicle to the ground.
  7. Take the vehicle to an alignment shop for a four-wheel alignment. At the rack, loosen the clamp bolts, adjust the link length for the desired anti-squat setting, and re-tighten the clamp bolts.
