UMI Double Adjustable Panhard Bar in Red for the 1982-2002 Camaro and Firebird
Where a stock stamped panhard bar simply holds the axle sideways, this UMI bar lets you move it. Right and left hand threads at the two ends mean the length changes with the bar bolted in, and QA1 hard chrome plated race rod ends replace bushings entirely so the rear end does not bind as the suspension travels. Nominal length is 43 inches centre to centre, and the assembly is fully TIG welded and finished in red powder coat.

Can I adjust it with the bar on the car?Yes. Right and left hand threads let you change length in place using a 1-1/4 inch wrench on the hex, with both jam nuts loosened first.
How do I centre the rear axle?Measure from each rear wheel to the fender well. Shortening the bar pulls the axle toward the passenger side and lengthening it pushes the axle toward the driver's side.
Why rod ends instead of bushings?UMI uses a spherical rod-end setup to eliminate rear-end bind, and the QA1 ends are Teflon and Kevlar lined so they are self-lubricating rather than greaseable.

Installation Instructions
- Jack the rear of the car with both wheels off the ground and set jack stands under the frame, not under the rear axle.
- Remove both panhard bar bolts with an 18mm wrench or socket and save the bolts.
- Loosen both jam nuts on the new bar and turn each rod end equally in or out until the bar matches the length of the OEM bar.
- Fit the two aluminum step bushings and the steel sleeve into each rod end so the joint centres in the mount.
- Install the bar with the hex end on whichever side is easier to reach, using the saved OEM hardware.
- Leave the bolts loose so the suspension is not preloaded at the wrong ride height.
- Lower the car back to ride height so its weight is on the rear axle, then tighten the mounting hardware.
- Measure each rear wheel to the fender well, loosen the jam nuts and turn the hex with a 1-1/4 inch wrench until the axle is centred.
- Retighten both jam nuts and check them periodically after driving.
