Restore positive front-shock control on classic Ford and Nissan suspension systems with the Whiteline W31409 front lower shock absorber bushing kit. This complete eight-bushing replacement kit is designed for the lower mounting points of the front shock absorbers on verified Ford Falcon, Fairlane, Fairmont, LTD, classic Mustang, and Nissan XFN applications. Whiteline developed these bushings to cope with the additional stress created by modern shock absorber travel and load demands, helping new or existing shock absorbers work through a more securely located lower mount.
Worn lower shock bushings can allow unwanted movement at the mounting point, reducing the precision of the shock absorber and contributing to noise, looseness, or inconsistent suspension response. W31409 replaces the complete set of applicable lower bushings with Whiteline's performance formulation to improve shock control while retaining the compliance required for a road-driven suspension.
The shock absorber can only control suspension movement effectively when its mounting points remain properly located. Deteriorated, compressed, or loose bushings introduce movement before the shock begins doing its job. Whiteline W31409 is designed to reduce that unwanted compliance and support more consistent damping response.

Fitment can depend on production month, chassis code, and front suspension configuration. Confirm the vehicle's build date and lower shock mounting dimensions before ordering. The published W31409 bushing dimensions should be used when checking a modified vehicle or a suspension that may no longer retain its original hardware.
Shock absorbers, sleeves, bolts, washers, mounting hardware, and upper shock bushings are not listed by Whiteline as part of this kit and should not be assumed to be included.
Whiteline lists an estimated installation time of approximately one hour and classifies the installation as straightforward for a technician with the correct specialist tools and experience. The front suspension must be safely supported before the lower shock mounts are released. Inspect the shock eyes or pins, bolts, washers, and mounting surfaces for wear or corrosion before installing the new bushings.
Inspect the lower shock bushings when replacing front shock absorbers or when diagnosing movement at the lower shock mount. Replacement may be appropriate when the existing bushings are visibly split, flattened, hardened, oil-damaged, missing material, or allowing the shock mount to move excessively. Confirm that any noise or handling concern originates at the bushing before replacing parts.
Use the Whiteline collection to locate matching upper shock bushings, spring pads, sway bar components, and control-arm bushings by exact vehicle application. Classic Mustang owners can also browse our Ford Mustang parts and accessories. Always verify the year, chassis, suspension position, and manufacturer part number before combining components.
Does W31409 include bushings for both front shock absorbers?
Whiteline specifies one kit per application and supplies eight bushings. Install them only in the positions shown by the vehicle and shock manufacturer's service information.
Will these bushings fit every 1965-1973 Mustang?
Whiteline lists W31409 for early/classic Mustang applications within that range, including manufacturer-listed base and Mach 1 models. Modified suspensions, aftermarket shock designs, and non-original mounting hardware should be checked against the published dimensions before ordering.
Can W31409 be installed with used shock absorbers?
Yes. Whiteline states that its shock bushings are intended to enhance the performance of both new and used shock absorbers, provided the shock absorbers and mounting hardware remain serviceable.
Are upper shock bushings included?
No. This is the front lower shock absorber bushing kit. Upper shock bushings are separate components.
Is an alignment needed after installation?
Yes. Whiteline identifies wheel alignment as required and recommends a front-wheel alignment after installation.
How do I confirm fitment on a modified vehicle?
Compare the existing lower shock mount with Whiteline's published Type 7 dimensions: 23.5 mm outside diameter, 10 mm inside diameter, 5.0 mm body length, 1.75 mm flange length, and 12.5 mm flange outside diameter. Also confirm the shock and vehicle manufacturers' mounting requirements.

Choose Ford LTD parts using full year, market, body and installed drivetrain. The broad LTD designation should be narrowed before comparing engine or induction components. Induction and Engine-Sealing Applications Match throttle-body, sensor and gasket interfaces with the actual installed manifold and engine. A related Mustang title still requires exact coverage. For rear-main seals and engine adapters, compare actual configuration, mounting and clearance. Shared displacement does not establish every seal or accessory arrangement. Drivetrain and Body Identification Match pilot-bearing requirements with actual crankshaft and transmission input. Retain mechanical conversion details rather than relying solely on original body identity. For exterior accessories, require explicit panel and production coverage. A different Ford model in a product title should not establish LTD mounting fit. Choose Your Part Record full LTD identity and market. Identify actual engine and induction. Match ...
