Wilwood 140-18207 replaces the factory front brakes on a four wheel drive Ram 1500 with six piston forged aluminum TX6R calipers in black powder coat, sixteen inch two piece Spec37 alloy rotors on weight saving aluminum hats, and radial mount brackets that bolt to the original spindles and hubs. The kit is volume matched to the factory master cylinder, so the ABS and the electronic brake controls keep working normally, and the braided flexline set is supplied rather than sold separately.

Wilwood lists this kit for the four wheel drive Ram 1500 in the Big Horn, Express, Laramie, Laramie Limited, Laramie Longhorn, Limited, Lone Star, Outdoorsman, Rebel, SLT, Special Service, Sport, ST, SXT and Tradesman configurations, with individual trims starting in different model years. The two wheel drive truck uses a different kit. A minimum twenty inch wheel diameter is required and wheel clearance must be checked against the Wilwood template before installation.

The pads and rotors need a bedding sequence of progressively firmer stops so a transfer layer forms evenly across the rotor face before any heavy load work.

The brackets are designed around the factory disc spindle. A non factory spindle needs to be confirmed with Wilwood before the kit is fitted.

Installation Instructions

1. Raise the front of the truck, support the suspension per the vehicle manufacturer instructions and remove both front wheels.
2. Remove the factory calipers, caliper brackets and rotors, and support or discard the original hoses as required.
3. Check wheel clearance against the Wilwood template before any new part is fitted.
4. Bolt the radial mount caliper brackets to the factory spindles using the supplied premium hardware.
5. Assemble each rotor to its aluminum hat, then fit the assembly over the hub and secure it.
6. Fit the SmartPads into the calipers, then mount each caliper to its bracket and check rotor to pad alignment and radial clearance.
7. Thread the supplied steel adapter fitting into the one eighth inch 27 NPT caliper inlet using PTFE tape on the pipe threads.
8. Attach the braided flexline to the caliper and secure the supplied line bracket at the original brake line mounting point with the factory bolt.
9. Bleed the brake system with fresh fluid until the pedal is firm and no air remains, then check every fitting for leaks.
10. Refit the wheels, torque the lug nuts, then bed the pads with a series of progressively firmer stops before normal use.
