Installation Instructions

1. Raise and support the vehicle safely. Remove the wheel and tire on the affected side.
2. Remove the brake caliper and rotor for better access.
3. Remove the differential cover bolts and cover. Drain the gear oil into a drain pan.
4. Remove the pinion shaft lock bolt and slide out the differential pinion shaft.
5. Push the axle shaft inward toward the center of the differential to expose the C-clip at the shaft end.
6. Remove the C-clip using needle-nose pliers. Slide the old shaft out of the axle tube.
7. Inspect the axle tube bearing and seal. Replace if worn, dry, or leaking.
8. Apply a light coat of clean gear oil to the spline end of YA D84776-1.
9. Slide the new shaft into the axle tube and engage the splines into the differential side gear.
10. Install the C-clip into the groove on the shaft end. Pull the shaft outward firmly to seat the C-clip.
11. Reinstall the pinion shaft and secure with the lock bolt torqued to Nissan specification.
12. Clean the differential cover mating surface. Apply new RTV or gasket and install the cover.
13. Fill the differential with the correct gear oil to the proper level.
14. Reinstall the rotor, caliper, wheel, and tire. Torque to specification. Road-test and inspect for leaks.
