The YA F975006 is a high-quality 1541H microalloy steel left rear axle shaft designed for the Ford 9.75 inch rear differential used in 1999 through 2004 F-150 and Expedition models. The Ford 9.75 inch axle is a robust semi-float design, and when the factory shaft wears or breaks, the YA F975006 provides a direct OE-compatible replacement that exceeds the strength of standard 1040 alloy replacements. Built from 1541H microalloy steel with precision-machined splines and a correctly machined bearing journal, YA F975006 restores full towing and hauling capability to these popular light-duty trucks. The left-side shaft matches OE dimensions for a straight-forward installation without modifications.

Does installing YA F975006 affect my factory warranty?
The Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act prevents dealers from voiding your warranty simply because an aftermarket part was installed. The manufacturer must show the part directly caused the failure in question.
What is the difference between the Ford 9.75 inch and 8.8 inch axle in the F-150?
The 9.75 inch was a larger, heavier axle introduced in the late 1990s for higher tow-rated F-150 SuperCrew and towing-package trucks. It is identifiable by a larger ring gear diameter and a different differential cover shape. The 8.8 inch remains in lighter-duty applications.
Is YA F975006 the left or right shaft?
YA F975006 is the left (driver side) rear axle shaft. If you need the right side, a separate Yukon Gear part number applies.
What causes F-150 9.75 inch axle shafts to fail?
High-torque gas engines, aggressive trailer towing, off-road use, and lifting/wheel packages that increase stress on the axle are the most common causes of shaft fatigue. 1541H steel provides a significant improvement in torsional fatigue resistance over standard replacements.
Can I install YA F975006 without removing the differential?
The Ford 9.75 inch uses a C-clip axle shaft retention system. The differential cover must be removed to access and remove the C-clips before the shaft can be withdrawn. The procedure does not require removing the carrier or ring and pinion.
What gear oil does the Ford 9.75 inch axle require?
Ford recommends 75W-140 full synthetic gear oil with a limited-slip friction modifier if the axle is equipped with a limited-slip differential.
Does YA F975006 work with factory ABS?
The Ford 9.75 inch axle ABS sensors are mounted on the differential housing rather than on the axle shaft itself in most applications, so this shaft does not require an integrated reluctor ring.
What warranty covers YA F975006?
Yukon Gear provides a manufacturer limited warranty against defects in materials and workmanship from the date of purchase.

Upgrading your axles is one of the highest-impact modifications for trucks and off-road vehicles that regularly see hard launches, deep mud, rock crawling, or towing at the limits. Aftermarket axle shafts are manufactured from higher-grade steel than OEM units, delivering greater torsional strength and resistance to fatigue failures that stock shafts cannot handle under sustained abuse. Popular Upgrades Chromoly front and rear axle shafts are the go-to upgrade for lifted trucks and Jeep builds running larger tires with increased leverage on the driveline. Locking differentials paired with upgraded axles make a complete traction system for serious off-road builds. Heavy-duty CV axles for both front-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive platforms handle the added stress of lowered suspension geometry and high-horsepower applications. When should I upgrade my axle shafts? Upgrade your axle shafts when adding larger tires, significantly increasing engine power, installing a locking differenti...
