YA G15286380 is designed for 4WD applications with rear disc brakes. The 2WD 8.6 inch rear axle uses a different shaft length and does not use this part number.

What gear oil does the GM 8.6 inch 10-bolt require?

Installation Instructions
- Raise and support the vehicle. Remove the wheel and tire on the side being serviced.
- Remove the brake caliper, bracket, and rotor to expose the axle tube.
- Remove the differential cover bolts and cover. Drain the differential oil.
- Remove the pinion shaft lock bolt and pull out the differential pinion shaft.
- Push the axle shaft inward to expose the C-clip at the inboard end. Remove the C-clip.
- Slide the old axle shaft out of the axle tube.
- Inspect the axle bearing and seal. Replace if worn.
- Apply a light coat of gear oil to the spline end of YA G15286380.
- Slide the new shaft into the tube and engage the splines. Install the C-clip and pull outward to seat it.
- Reinstall the pinion shaft and torque the lock bolt to GM specification.
- Install differential cover with new RTV and fill with correct gear oil.
- Reinstall rotor, caliper, wheel, and tire. Torque to spec. Road-test and check for leaks.
