Designed to fit Dana Spicer 60 housings with 35 spline axles and gear ratios of 4.10 and numerically lower, YGLD60-3-35 replaces the factory carrier and delivers 100% locking power to both tires under load, then disengages automatically during turns. What gear oil does Yukon recommend for this locker?
For best longevity and quiet operation with the Grizzly Locker, use standard GL-5 gear oil. No friction modifier or positraction additive is required since this is a mechanical locker, not a clutch-pack LSD.

Installation Instructions

  1. Raise and safely support the vehicle on jack stands. Drain the differential gear oil.
  2. Remove the differential cover and gasket. Clean the mating surfaces thoroughly.
  3. Mark the bearing caps for reinstallation in the same position and orientation.
  4. Remove the bearing cap bolts and carefully slide out the factory carrier assembly with bearings and shims. Keep shims organized for each side.
  5. Remove the ring gear from the factory carrier and inspect ring gear teeth and bolts for wear. Clean the ring gear bolt holes.
  6. Install the ring gear onto the Grizzly Locker carrier (YGLD60-3-35) using new ring gear bolts. Torque to specification for Dana 60 (typically 70 to 90 ft-lb).
  7. Press the original carrier bearings onto the Grizzly Locker carrier hubs, or install new carrier bearings if replacing.
  8. Set the Grizzly Locker carrier assembly into the differential housing with the original shim stacks. Reinstall bearing caps in their original positions and hand-tighten.
  9. Check and adjust ring gear backlash (typically 0.005 to 0.009 in for Dana 60) and carrier bearing preload using the original shim setup as a starting point. Adjust shims as needed.
  10. Perform a gear pattern check using marking compound to verify proper tooth contact.
  11. Torque bearing cap bolts to Dana 60 specification (typically 80 to 100 ft-lb).
  12. Install a new differential cover gasket and cover. Refill with the manufacturer-recommended GL-5 gear oil to the proper level.
  13. Road test the vehicle and listen for any abnormal noise during the break-in period.
