Installation Instructions

  1. Raise the vehicle and safely support it. Disconnect the front driveshaft from the front differential yoke.
  2. Drain gear oil from the front differential housing.

  4. Mark carrier bearing cap positions before removal. Record existing backlash and pinion preload.
  5. Remove the carrier assembly and old reverse-rotation ring and pinion.
  6. Press old pinion bearings off and install new bearings from the master install kit.
  7. Set pinion depth using the appropriate shim and dial indicator. Verify tooth depth per Yukon spec sheet.
  8. Install the new ring gear from the YG T7.5R-488R set onto the carrier using new ring gear bolts torqued in a cross pattern.
  9. Set carrier bearing preload and ring-to-pinion backlash between 0.006 and 0.010 inch.
  10. Apply gear marking compound and verify contact pattern. Adjust pinion depth or backlash as needed.
  11. Reinstall cover with RTV or gasket. Fill with the specified Toyota front differential fluid.
  12. Reconnect driveshaft with original orientation marks aligned. Torque all fasteners to spec.
