What break-in is required after installing YG D30R-513R?
Avoid heavy off-road loads or extended high-speed driving for the first 500 miles. Change the differential fluid at the conclusion of the break-in period to clear metallic particles generated during initial gear seating.

Installation Instructions

  1. Drain differential fluid and remove axle shafts and the differential cover from the housing.
  2. Mark bearing caps with a punch before removal, then pull the carrier assembly.
  3. Press off the old ring gear and clean the carrier flange mating surface.
  4. Install the new ring gear from YG D30R-513R and torque all bolts in a cross pattern to the specified torque value.
  5. Remove the old pinion, bearings, and crush sleeve from the axle housing.
  6. Press new pinion bearings into the housing bores and onto the pinion shaft.
  7. Determine correct pinion depth using a depth gauge and shim stack per the Yukon instruction sheet.
  8. Set pinion bearing preload within specification using an inch-pound torque wrench and new crush sleeve.
  9. Reinstall the carrier with correct side bearing shim stack to achieve specified backlash range.
  10. Check gear contact pattern with marking compound and fine-tune shim stacks as needed.
  11. Install the cover with new gasket or RTV and fill with the correct gear oil to the proper level.
  12. Break in gears gradually over 500 miles before extreme use, then perform an immediate fluid change.
