Installation Instructions

1. Drain differential fluid from both the front and rear differentials. Remove differential covers and clean housing mating surfaces thoroughly.
2. Disconnect front and rear driveshafts from the differential flanges.
3. Remove carrier assemblies from both differential housings. Inspect and replace carrier bearings if they show wear.
4. If the vehicle originally had the 3.21 factory gear ratio, install a compatible 5.13 front carrier before proceeding with ring gear installation.
5. Press the new 5.13 ring gears onto the carriers for both front and rear. Torque ring gear bolts to specification using thread-locking compound as directed.
6. Press new pinion bearing cups and cones onto the new pinion gear shafts. Always use new pinion bearings and do not reuse old ones.
7. Establish correct pinion depth in each housing using the included shim pack and a dial indicator. This dimension is critical for proper tooth contact geometry.
8. Install the pinion into the housing with the new crush sleeve. Tighten the pinion nut gradually while measuring bearing preload with an inch-pound torque wrench until the target preload is achieved.
