Installation Instructions

1. Raise and safely support the vehicle. Drain differential fluid into a clean pan and inspect for metal particles.
2. Remove front axle shafts, then remove the differential carrier assembly from the housing.
3. Press out old carrier bearings using a bearing separator and press or slide hammer.
4. Remove the pinion nut and yoke, then drive out the old pinion using a brass drift.
5. Press out the old pinion bearings and bearing cups from the housing.
6. Clean all mating surfaces, housing bores, and the carrier thoroughly.
7. Press new Timken pinion bearing cups from the YK C9.25-F kit into the housing bores until fully seated.
8. Install the new crush sleeve on the pinion stem, then seat the front pinion bearing and install the new pinion seal.
9. Set pinion depth using the shim kit included with YK C9.25-F and the marking compound and brush to verify gear contact pattern.
10. Press new Timken carrier bearings onto the carrier, then set carrier bearing preload using the adjuster shims.
11. Torque ring gear bolts to factory specification (approximately 103 ft-lbs) using the new ring gear bolts included.
12. Set backlash to 0.005-0.007 inches and verify gear contact pattern with marking compound.
13. Torque bearing cap bolts to specification. Apply thread locker to fasteners where specified.
