Installation Instructions
- Raise and safely support the vehicle. Drain the differential fluid and inspect for metal contamination.
- Remove the rear axle shafts and disconnect the driveshaft from the differential yoke.
- Remove the differential carrier from the housing; mark bearing caps for correct reinstallation.
- Press out old carrier bearings and remove the carrier from the housing.
- Remove the pinion nut and yoke, then drive out the old pinion shaft.
- Press old pinion bearing cups from the housing bores and record shim stack thickness for reference.
- Clean all housing bores, carrier surfaces, and mating faces thoroughly.
- Press new KOYO pinion bearing cups from the YK TV6-B kit into the housing until fully seated.
- Select the pinion depth shim from the complete shim kit and verify gear contact using marking compound and brush.
- Install the new crush sleeve, front KOYO bearing, and new pinion seal.
- Torque the pinion nut to achieve correct rotational preload (approximately 14-19 in-lbs new bearing preload).
- Press new KOYO carrier bearings onto the differential carrier.
- Set carrier bearing preload using the adjuster shims and verify backlash (target 0.005-0.007 inches).
- Verify gear contact pattern with marking compound, then torque ring gear bolts with included hardware.
- Reinstall bearing caps in their original orientation and torque to specification. Apply thread locker as directed.
