Installation Instructions

1. Raise and safely support the vehicle. Drain differential fluid and inspect for metal particles.
2. Remove rear axle shafts and disconnect the driveshaft from the differential flange.
3. Remove the differential carrier from the housing and mark bearing caps for correct reinstallation.
4. Press out old carrier bearings using a bearing separator.
5. Remove the pinion nut and yoke, then drive out the old pinion shaft.
6. Press old pinion bearing cups out of the housing bores and remove the old shims.
7. Clean all mating surfaces, bores, and carrier components thoroughly.
8. Press new KOYO pinion bearing cups from the YK TV6 kit into the housing until fully seated.
9. Select the correct pinion depth shim using the shim kit and verify with marking compound and brush.
10. Install the new crush sleeve on the pinion, install front bearing, and press in the new pinion seal.
11. Install the pinion yoke and tighten the new pinion nut to achieve the specified rotational preload (approximately 14-19 in-lbs for new bearings).
12. Press new KOYO carrier bearings onto the differential carrier.
13. Set carrier bearing preload and backlash using the adjuster shims. Target backlash is typically 0.005-0.007 inches.
14. Verify gear contact pattern with marking compound, then torque ring gear bolts using the included hardware.
15. Reinstall bearing caps in original position and torque to specification. Apply thread locker as specified.
16. Install the gasket, reinstall axle shafts, and fill with proper gear oil. Reconnect the driveshaft and torque all fasteners.
17. Perform the 500-mile break-in procedure and inspect for leaks at 100 miles.
