Installation Instructions

1. Safely raise and support the vehicle. Remove the wheel, tire, and brake assembly on the side being serviced.
2. Remove the axle shaft retaining bolts from the differential side and slide the axle shaft out of the axle tube.
3. Use a slide hammer with an axle bearing puller to extract the axle bearing from the axle tube.
4. Remove the old axle seal from the axle tube bore using a seal puller or screwdriver.
5. Clean the axle tube bore and inspect for scoring or damage.
6. Drive the new axle seal from the AK D44JK into the axle tube bore until flush and fully seated, using a seal driver of the appropriate diameter.
7. Press or drive the new axle bearing from the AK D44JK into the axle tube bore until fully seated behind the seal.
8. Lightly coat the axle shaft bearing journal with clean differential fluid. Carefully slide the axle shaft back into the tube without damaging the new seal lip.
9. Reinstall the axle shaft retaining bolts into the differential flange. Torque to specification.
10. Reinstall brake components, wheel, and tire. Lower vehicle and verify rear differential fluid level.
