Installation Instructions
- Disassemble the differential and remove the carrier assembly from the housing
- Record the original carrier shim thicknesses on each side as a baseline reference
- Select trial shims from the YUKSK SS12 kit closest in thickness to the originals
- Install the carrier with the trial shims and torque the bearing caps to specification
- Measure ring gear backlash at four points around the ring gear using a dial indicator
- If backlash is out of specification, move shim thickness from one side to the other to maintain total preload while adjusting the carrier position
- Verify the gear contact pattern with marking compound applied to the ring gear teeth
- Adjust pinion depth shims if the contact pattern requires correction
- Once backlash and contact pattern are confirmed correct, complete the final assembly
- Fill the differential to the proper fluid level and reinstall the driveshaft
