Installation Instructions

3. Remove the differential cover bolts, remove the cover, and allow the gear oil to drain completely into a drain pan.
4. Locate the pinion shaft inside the carrier, remove the lock bolt, and withdraw the pinion shaft.
5. Push the axle shaft inward to expose the C-clip groove at the inner end. Remove the C-clip with C-clip pliers or a suitable tool.
6. Carefully slide the old axle shaft out of the housing tube. Inspect the axle seal and bearing for wear or damage and replace as required before installing the new shaft.
7. Slide the ZA F880063 into the axle tube, engaging the 31-spline inner end with the carrier side gear. Push inward until the C-clip groove is accessible inside the differential case.
8. Install the C-clip into the groove, then pull the shaft outward firmly to seat the C-clip against the side gear face.
9. Reinstall the pinion shaft, insert the lock bolt, and torque to specification.
10. Apply a fresh gasket or a bead of RTV sealant to the cover mating surface. Reinstall the cover and torque bolts evenly in a cross pattern.
11. Fill the differential with the appropriate gear oil type and quantity per the Ford specification for the Crown Victoria 8.8in rear axle.
12. Reinstall brake components and the wheel. Torque lug nuts to the specified value.
