Vertical Doors, Inc. has expanded its confirmed Chevrolet Corvette C8 applications through the 2027 model year. The updated fitment now covers the 2027 Stingray, Z06, ZR1, ZR1X, Grand Sport, and Grand Sport X but these cars do not all use the same traditional vertical-door kit.

That distinction is the real news for Corvette owners. Vertical Doors currently uses two part numbers for its traditional outward-then-upward conversion, plus a separate ZLR system with a different diagonal door motion. Choosing by “C8 Corvette” alone is not enough.

What Changed for the 2027 Corvette C8

The manufacturer’s current application data confirms 2027 fitment for six C8 models:

  • 2027 Corvette C8 Stingray
  • 2027 Corvette C8 Z06
  • 2027 Corvette C8 ZR1
  • 2027 Corvette C8 ZR1X
  • 2027 Corvette C8 Grand Sport
  • 2027 Corvette C8 Grand Sport X

The current Vertical Doors table does not extend E-Ray fitment into 2027 it lists the E-Ray through 2026. Owners should follow the exact manufacturer application rather than assuming every C8 model shares the same year range.

This table reflects Vertical Doors’ current published application data. Always verify the latest product page and the exact vehicle configuration before ordering.

Standard Stingray: VDCCHEVYCORC820

A standard, factory-body 2020-2027 C8 Stingray uses part number VDCCHEVYCORC820. The system retains the original Corvette doors and mounts at the factory hinge locations. Each converted door opens outward first and then raises vertically with assistance from the included gas shock.

Do not use this part number for a Stingray equipped with a widebody kit, air suspension, or wheels measuring 21 inches or larger. Vertical Doors directs those modified Stingray applications to the heavier-duty premium-model kit.

Z06, ZR1, ZR1X, E-Ray, Grand Sport, and Grand Sport X

Part number VDCCHEVYCORC823Z06 is the confirmed traditional Vertical Door conversion for the model years shown above across the Z06, E-Ray, ZR1, ZR1X, Grand Sport, and Grand Sport X.

It is also the manufacturer-specified option for a C8 Stingray with a widebody conversion, air-bag suspension, or 21-inch-or-larger wheels. Those changes can affect body clearance and the operating space around the door, which is why a modified Stingray should not be ordered as though it were a standard factory-body car.

Traditional Vertical Doors vs. the ZLR System

Vertical Doors offers two distinct door movements for the C8. Both retain the original Corvette door shells, but they do not operate the same way.

Traditional Vertical Door conversion

The traditional system opens the door outward approximately 12 to 18 inches before it can be raised vertically. The outward stage provides room to enter or exit without lifting the door every time. Stingray and premium C8 models use different traditional-system part numbers, so exact model identification matters.

ZLR door conversion

The ZLR system moves the door outward and upward diagonally in one continuous motion. It does not open rearward. Vertical Doors currently lists part number VDCCHEVYCORZLRC820 across the confirmed C8 applications in its current fitment table.

The right choice is not simply which system looks more dramatic in a photograph. Owners should compare the actual opening path, available garage and parking clearance, how they enter and exit the car, the vehicle’s body configuration, and installer experience.

What Comes With a Vehicle-Specific C8 Kit

The current traditional Vertical Doors packages generally include:

  • One driver-side vehicle-specific hinge assembly
  • One passenger-side vehicle-specific hinge assembly
  • Two application-matched gas shocks
  • Required mounting hardware
  • Vehicle-specific installation instructions

The original Corvette doors, glass, latches, handles, and interior panels are retained. The conversion replaces the factory hinge assemblies and changes the door movement.

“Bolt-On” Still Requires Serious Installation Work

Vehicle-specific bolt-on does not mean modification-free. C8 installation requires safe door support, body-panel removal, wiring clearance, hinge adjustment, gas-shock installation, and precise final alignment.

The manufacturer’s current guidance also calls for non-visible trimming in the fender or inner-fender area to create clearance for the hinge arm. Before loosening the original hinges, mark the factory door position with painter’s tape across the door and adjacent body at several reference points. Those marks help the installer restore height, fore-aft position, and panel gaps.

After installation, verify:

  • Outward clearance before the door begins to rise
  • Smooth gas-shock assistance with no binding
  • Proper latch engagement without lifting or slamming
  • Even panel gaps with the door closed
  • Adequate wiring travel through the full opening path
  • Correct window, lock, mirror, speaker, and door-electronics operation
  • Weather-seal contact and water sealing
  • Fastener torque and hinge-stop adjustment

Professional installation is recommended for owners who are not experienced with heavy-door support, composite body panels, wiring management, concealed trimming, and precision door alignment.

Why the 2027 Fitment Update Matters

The C8 lineup has grown far beyond the original Stingray. Z06, E-Ray, ZR1, ZR1X, Grand Sport, and Grand Sport X models introduce different body, wheel, suspension, and performance configurations. A single generic “2020+ Corvette” product description can no longer communicate enough information to order correctly.

Vertical Doors’ expanded table gives 2027 owners a clear starting point: standard Stingray uses VDCCHEVYCORC820; the confirmed premium and widebody applications use VDCCHEVYCORC823Z06; ZLR customers use the separate diagonal-motion system.

Before Ordering a 2027 Corvette Door Kit

  • Confirm the exact model: Stingray, Z06, E-Ray, ZR1, ZR1X, Grand Sport, or Grand Sport X.
  • Confirm the model year rather than assuming all C8 years share one application.
  • Disclose widebody panels, air suspension, 21-inch-or-larger wheels, aftermarket fenders, or prior collision repair.
  • Choose between the traditional outward-then-upward motion and the ZLR diagonal motion.
  • Verify the current manufacturer part number and installation requirements.
  • Book an experienced installer before the kit arrives if the car has a firm completion deadline.

Black Ops Auto Works can help verify the correct Vertical Doors part number before purchase. Some existing product titles may still show an earlier model-year range while manufacturer fitment data is being updated, so use the part number and current application notes as the authority.
