No. The Billet Technology 30030 accepts the OEM thermostat. You may reuse your existing thermostat if it is in good condition or install a new OEM-spec thermostat during installation.
Does this billet water neck use OEM gaskets?
Yes. This product is machined to accept OEM or OEM-equivalent gaskets. A fresh gasket is recommended during installation.
Will this water neck improve cooling performance?
This is a direct replacement housing with OEM-style coolant passage geometry. It does not change thermostat opening temperature, but it helps maintain proper sealing by replacing the factory housing that can warp or crack over time.
Is this compatible with OEM and aftermarket coolants?
Yes. 6061-T6 aluminum is compatible with standard ethylene glycol and OAT-based coolants. Do not mix coolant types. Flush the system if switching coolant formulas.
Is this water neck made in the USA?
Yes. The Billet Technology 30030 is CNC machined in Lake Worth, Florida from certified domestic 6061-T6 aluminum.
Do I need to bleed the cooling system after installation?
Yes. Any time the cooling system is opened, air pockets can form. Fill and bleed the cooling system according to the factory service procedure.
Installation Notes
- Allow the engine to cool completely before servicing the cooling system.
- Drain coolant as needed using a drain pan.
- Disconnect coolant hoses from the factory housing.
- Remove the OEM fasteners and factory water neck.
- Clean the mating surface thoroughly.
- Install the thermostat and fresh gasket into the billet housing.
- Mount the Billet Technology 30030 water neck and torque fasteners to OEM specification.
- Reconnect coolant hoses and secure all clamps.
- Refill and bleed the cooling system.
- Start the engine, bring it to operating temperature, and inspect for leaks.
- Top off coolant after the thermostat opens and recheck after the first heat cycle.
