Cut 20 Pounds of Rotating Mass and End Brake Fade on Your Trackhawk or Durango Hellcat

The ModalWorks MM-DUR-WK2-CC is a set of two carbon ceramic front brake rotors engineered as a direct stock replacement for the 2018-2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk and the 2021-2025 Dodge Durango SRT Hellcat. At just 16.9 lbs per rotor versus the factory cast iron unit at 37 lbs, each MM-DUR-WK2-CC rotor removes over 20 lbs of unsprung rotating mass per side from your front axle.

That reduction translates directly into sharper turn-in, faster acceleration response, and dramatically reduced gyroscopic inertia through high-speed corners. Beyond weight savings, the carbon ceramic composite construction delivers vastly superior heat resistance compared to iron, eliminating the thermal brake fade that plagues iron-rotor setups during spirited driving and track use. These rotors install in the factory caliper locations without any modifications, making the MM-DUR-WK2-CC the most straightforward performance brake upgrade available for WK2 Trackhawk and Durango Hellcat owners.

Key Features

  • Carbon ceramic composite construction drops rotor weight from 37 lbs to 16.9 lbs per rotor, removing over 20 lbs of unsprung rotating mass per side
  • Superior thermal stability versus cast iron eliminates brake fade under sustained hard braking, track lapping, and canyon driving
  • Direct OEM bolt-on fit for 2018-2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk (WK2) and 2021-2025 Dodge Durango SRT Hellcat front axle positions
  • No caliper, bracket, or hardware modifications required for installation
  • Reduced unsprung and rotating mass improves steering response, acceleration, and overall vehicle dynamics
  • Extended rotor service life compared to cast iron due to carbon ceramic wear resistance
  • Designed in the USA by ModalWorks
  • Sold as a set of two front rotors covering one full front axle

Frequently Asked Questions

What years and models does the ModalWorks MM-DUR-WK2-CC fit?

The MM-DUR-WK2-CC fits the 2018-2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk (WK2 platform, 6.2L supercharged V8) and the 2021-2025 Dodge Durango SRT Hellcat (6.2L supercharged V8). These are the only two production vehicles that share the WK2-spec 400mm front brake architecture for which this rotor is engineered. It does not fit the Grand Cherokee SRT8, standard Durango SRT, Trackhawk WL, or any non-Hellcat/non-Trackhawk trim.

Do I need special brake pads to run carbon ceramic rotors like the MM-DUR-WK2-CC?

Yes. Carbon ceramic rotors require brake pads specifically formulated for carbon ceramic mating surfaces. Standard iron-rotor pads do not develop the correct friction coefficient or wear characteristics on a carbon ceramic surface and can cause uneven pad deposits, noise, and degraded stopping performance. Use only carbon ceramic compatible pads with the MM-DUR-WK2-CC. ModalWorks does not include pads in this kit.

How much weight does the MM-DUR-WK2-CC save compared to the factory rotors?

Each MM-DUR-WK2-CC rotor weighs 16.9 lbs, compared to the factory cast iron front rotor which weighs approximately 37 lbs. That is a reduction of approximately 20.1 lbs per rotor, or over 40 lbs across the full front axle. Because these are unsprung rotating masses, the handling and acceleration improvements per pound saved are significantly greater than equivalent savings in non-rotating static weight.

Will the MM-DUR-WK2-CC fit without any caliper or bracket modifications?

Yes. The MM-DUR-WK2-CC is designed as a direct OEM bolt-on replacement for the Trackhawk and Durango Hellcat factory front brake setup. The rotor hat dimensions, bolt pattern, and rotor ring diameter match the original equipment specification so that the factory Brembo front calipers and brackets mount without any adapters, spacers, or modifications.

Can I use the MM-DUR-WK2-CC on a Trackhawk that is also driven on the street daily?

Yes. Carbon ceramic rotors are suitable for street use, and the MM-DUR-WK2-CC is designed to function as a daily-driver replacement as well as a performance upgrade. One consideration: carbon ceramic rotors require a slightly longer warm-up period in very cold weather before achieving full friction coefficient. In climates that see regular sub-freezing temperatures, allow a brief gentle warm-up of the brakes before relying on full-force stops.

What is the OEM part number the MM-DUR-WK2-CC replaces?

The MM-DUR-WK2-CC replaces the factory Jeep/Stellantis front brake rotor for the Trackhawk and Durango Hellcat, OEM part number 68305562AB. This is the 400mm x 36mm ventilated iron front rotor fitted at the factory by Jeep and Dodge on both the Trackhawk WK2 and Durango SRT Hellcat production lines.

How long do carbon ceramic rotors last compared to iron rotors?

Carbon ceramic rotors typically last significantly longer than cast iron rotors under the same driving conditions. In OEM applications on high-end performance cars, carbon ceramic rotors often last the life of the vehicle. The MM-DUR-WK2-CC uses a carbon ceramic composite that is highly resistant to the thermal cracking and wear that limit the service life of cast iron. Actual longevity depends on driving style, pad selection, and operating conditions.

Do ModalWorks MM-DUR-WK2-CC rotors work with the factory Brembo calipers on the Trackhawk?

Yes. The Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk and Dodge Durango SRT Hellcat come equipped from the factory with Brembo monobloc front calipers. The MM-DUR-WK2-CC is dimensionally matched to the factory rotor envelope these Brembo calipers were designed around. No caliper swap, bracket change, or caliper adaptation is required.

Is there a break-in procedure for the ModalWorks carbon ceramic rotors?

Yes. Carbon ceramic rotors require a proper bed-in procedure to transfer an even layer of friction material from the pads to the rotor surface. Perform 6 to 8 moderate stops from approximately 45 mph down to about 5 mph, allowing 30 to 60 seconds of cool-down rolling between each stop. Avoid a complete stop during the bed-in sequence as pad imprinting can cause vibration. After the initial bed-in, perform 4 to 5 more firm stops from 60 mph to complete the process. Do not use hard stops during the first 200 miles of driving.

Installation Instructions

  1. Safely lift and support the vehicle on rated jack stands. Remove both front wheels.
  2. Clean the caliper carrier bracket mounting faces and wheel hub flange with brake cleaner and a wire brush before beginning.
  3. Remove the front caliper by unbolting the two caliper guide pin bolts (do not disconnect the brake line). Secure the caliper with a wire hook to the spring or control arm to prevent brake hose stress.
  4. Remove the caliper carrier bracket mounting bolts and bracket. Set aside for reinstallation.
  5. Remove the factory iron rotor from the hub. If the rotor is stuck, thread two M12 x 1.5 bolts into the rotor puller holes and tighten evenly to break it free.
  6. Clean the hub face thoroughly and verify it is flat and free of rust or debris that could cause rotor runout.
  7. Mount the MM-DUR-WK2-CC carbon ceramic rotor onto the hub. Thread in two lug nuts finger-tight at opposing positions to hold the rotor flat while completing installation.
  8. Reinstall the caliper carrier bracket and torque mounting bolts to 129 ft-lbs (175 Nm) for WK2 Trackhawk applications.
  9. Install carbon-ceramic-compatible brake pads into the caliper carrier. Apply a thin film of ceramic brake lubricant to the pad abutment surfaces only (never the friction face).
  10. Compress the caliper pistons using a caliper piston tool. Reinstall the caliper and torque the guide pin bolts to 32 ft-lbs (43 Nm).
  11. Reinstall the wheels and torque lug nuts to 110 ft-lbs (149 Nm) in a star pattern. Repeat on the opposite side before lowering the vehicle.
  12. Pump the brake pedal firmly until it is solid before attempting to move the vehicle. Perform the carbon ceramic bed-in procedure before hard stops.
