Rotora is a global brake system manufacturer recognized for supplying extreme-duty braking solutions to armored vehicle, security, and military vehicle programs worldwide. The HD Challenge series brings that engineering pedigree to production trucks and SUVs that face real-world demands. The HDDurango-405x38 front system represents the top of the Durango HD Challenge front lineup, sized and tuned specifically for the SRT 392 and SRT Hellcat platforms and built to operate within all factory electronic systems without modification.
The HDDurango-405x38 fits the Dodge Durango SRT 392 (2018-2023) and SRT Hellcat (2021 and 2023 model years). It does not fit non-SRT Durango trim levels including the R/T, GT, SXT, Citadel, Crew, or Pursuit.
Does the HDDurango-405x38 work with the SRT Durango's ABS and traction control?Yes. The HDDurango-405x38 is designed for 100% compatibility with the factory master cylinder, ABS, and traction control on the Durango SRT 392 and SRT Hellcat. No electronic bypasses or additional modules are required.
Why does the SRT Durango need a different front HD Challenge kit than the non-SRT?The Durango SRT 392 and SRT Hellcat use a different front suspension and brake carrier geometry than the non-SRT models. The HDDurango-405x38 is application-specific to the SRT platform, with bracket geometry, caliper position, and disc sizing calibrated for the SRT front axle. Using the non-SRT system on an SRT Durango is not supported.
Should I choose slotted or drilled discs for my SRT Durango?Slotted discs are the preferred choice for sustained high-load use such as repeated hard stops, mountain towing, or heavy off-road work, as they resist thermal cracking better than drilled discs under extreme cycling. Drilled discs provide improved initial bite and wet-weather performance for mixed street use. Both options use the same caliper and pad hardware.
What minimum wheel size is required to fit the 405x38mm front system on a Durango SRT?Rotora's general guidance indicates that 20-inch wheels are typically needed for 405mm disc diameter systems. Wheel offset is equally critical for inner spoke clearance against the caliper face. Rotora provides vehicle-specific wheel clearance charts. Confirm compatibility with your specific wheel and offset before ordering or installing.
Can I upgrade to higher-compound brake pads for track or extreme towing use?Yes. Rotora offers multiple HD pad compound upgrades beyond the included HD graphite-metallic pads. Higher-duty compounds are available for extreme towing, repeated mountain descents, or off-road track use. Contact Rotora or your authorized reseller for compound options available for the HDDurango-405x38 application.
Is this front HD Challenge system compatible with aftermarket wheels on the Durango SRT?The HDDurango-405x38 requires confirmation of wheel clearance before installing with any aftermarket wheel. The caliper body and disc diameter on 405mm systems require significant inner barrel clearance. Wheel offset, spoke design, and barrel depth all factor into clearance. A positive offset is generally more favorable. Consult Rotora's wheel clearance chart or technical support before selecting wheels.
Can I pair this front system with my existing rear brakes on the Durango SRT?Yes. The HDDurango-405x38 operates on the front axle independently of the rear brake setup. However, for best front-to-rear brake balance under heavy loads, Rotora recommends pairing the front HD Challenge system with the Rotora HDDurango-380x32 HD Challenge Rear Brake System for the SRT Durango, which is tuned to complement this front kit.
What is the correct break-in procedure for the HDDurango-405x38 system?Begin by making light stops from 25 mph to wear away the disc zinc plating without generating heat. Follow with several moderate stops from 45 mph to bring the system up to operating temperature. Then perform 10 near-stops from 60 mph down to 5 mph to fully transfer and seat the pad compound to the disc surface. Allow the system to cool completely to ambient temperature before resuming normal driving.
Does this system come with a warranty?Rotora HD Challenge brake systems are backed by Rotora's manufacturer warranty covering defects in materials and workmanship. Contact Rotora or your authorized reseller for full warranty terms applicable to your purchase and region.
