Functional Scoop Sniper Hood for the 2011-2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee WK2
The Sniper hood is a one piece composite panel with a raised centre scoop and stacked side louvres that feed cool air in and let heat escape from the engine bay. Black Ops Auto Works has built this design in the United States since 2007, and the panel accepts the factory WK2 hood vents so the finished car keeps a production look while shedding weight off the nose.

EcoDiesel equipped Grand Cherokee models are not covered because of the different underhood packaging. The hood mounts to the factory hinges, latch and D-ring, which transfer from the original hood. Factory hood vents and hood pins are purchased separately.

FAQ
Does this hood fit a Grand Cherokee that is not an SRT or Trackhawk?Yes. The panel uses the shared WK2 hood opening, so Laredo, Limited, Overland and Summit models mount it the same way as the SRT and Trackhawk. EcoDiesel models are the exception.
Do I need to buy anything before the hood can be installed?The panel reuses the factory hinges, latch striker, D-ring catch and weather stripping from the original hood, so those parts transfer over. Paint is required on the fiberglass configuration.
Is a fiberglass hood finished when it arrives?No. The fiberglass version arrives in gel coat and is intended to be primed and painted or wrapped to match the vehicle before it goes on the car.
How is the carbon version protected from sun damage?The exposed weave is sealed under a UV stable gel coat that is buffed to a gloss. It resists yellowing and can be wet sanded and polished again later if it picks up swirls.
Will the factory hood struts still hold the panel up?The composite panel is lighter than the aluminum original, so the factory struts can push it past the intended stop. A prop rod is the safer option when the struts are reused.
Are hood pins required?Pins are recommended as a secondary restraint on a lightweight composite panel. They supplement the factory latch and D-ring rather than replace it.
Can the panel be repaired if it is chipped?Gel coat damage is repairable. Light marks can be wet sanded and buffed, and deeper chips can be filled with gel coat and blended before polishing.
How should the finish be maintained?Wash with a pH neutral soap and protect the surface with a carnauba wax, ceramic coating or clear film. Avoid abrasive polishes on the weave itself.
Installation Instructions
- Park on level ground, open the factory hood and support it, then disconnect the battery if underhood lighting will be added later.
- Remove the washer nozzle lines, insulation pad and any factory vents from the original hood and set the hardware aside for reuse.
- Unbolt the hood struts or prop rod, then support the hood with a second person before removing the hinge bolts.
- Lift the original hood clear of the vehicle and transfer the hinges, latch striker, D-ring catch and weather stripping to the new panel.
- Set the new hood loosely onto the hinges and start every bolt by hand so the panel can still float during alignment.
- Align the panel to the fenders and headlights, checking the gap on both sides before torquing the hinge bolts.
- Adjust the rubber bump stops and the D-ring catch height so the hood sits flush and does not bounce at speed.
- Close the hood slowly with a palm over each headlight, confirm latch engagement, then recheck all fasteners after the first drive.
