UMI Front and Rear Tubular Sway Bar Kit for the 1993-2002 Camaro and Firebird, Bright Red
Both ends of a fourth generation F-body in one box: a 35mm tubular front bar and a 22mm tubular rear bar, each supplied with heavy duty end links and greaseable sway bar bushings. Balancing front and rear roll stiffness together is what keeps a car neutral rather than trading understeer for oversteer, and UMI lists the kit as a direct bolt-on with no modifications.
Key Features
- 35mm tubular front bar and 22mm tubular rear bar supplied together as one kit.
- Each bar ships with its own heavy duty end links and greaseable sway bar bushings.
- Bars are CNC bent and formed as one piece.
- Addresses front and rear roll stiffness together rather than one end at a time.
- Direct bolt-on with modifications listed as none and hardware included.
- Powder coated bright red finish on both bars.
Fitment
| Vehicle | Application |
|---|---|
| Chevrolet Camaro | 1993-2002, fourth generation F-body, front and rear |
| Pontiac Firebird | 1993-2002, fourth generation F-body, front and rear |
Fourth generation only. UMI's separate 22mm rear bar covers 1982-2002, but this kit is restricted to 1993-2002 because of the front bar, so the two ranges must not be merged.
The rear bar ships with end links intended for a majority of cars at reasonable ride heights. UMI notes that excessive raising or lowering, or use with other manufacturers' products, may require shorter or longer end links.

About UMI Performance
UMI Performance designs and manufactures chassis and suspension parts at 509 Hemlock Street in Philipsburg, Pennsylvania, using North American raw materials, laser-cut plate, CNC bending and precision welding. UMI sells direct and through dealers, ships most orders within three business days from Philipsburg, and publishes a printed installation sheet with each part number. Coverage runs two years from the original purchase date for the original purchaser, and UMI states it cannot guarantee compatibility with other manufacturers' components used alongside its parts.

FAQ
What exactly comes in the kit?A 35mm tubular front bar and a 22mm tubular rear bar, each with heavy duty end links and greaseable sway bar bushings. UMI does not print a kit level piece-by-piece bill of materials, so no counts beyond that are claimed here.
Are clamshells included? The kit page does not mention them, though both individual bar pages list zinc plated clamshells. Because UMI does not state it at kit level, this listing does not claim a clamshell count.
Does it fit a 1988 Camaro? No. This kit is 1993-2002 only, because the front bar is a fourth generation part. The 22mm rear bar on its own does cover 1982-2002.
What is the centre-to-centre measurement?UMI publishes none on the kit page. The individual front bar page publishes 50 1/2 inches, and no figure is published for the rear bar.
What material are the bars?UMI's kit page says tubular high carbon steel in the prose and Chromoly in the attribute table. The two disagree, so no single material is claimed.
Where are the installation instructions? There is no kit specific installation sheet. UMI publishes a front bar sheet for the 35mm bar and a rear bar sheet for the 22mm bar, and both are needed for this kit. The PDF served for the kit part number is actually the front-bar-only document, so it should not be treated as kit instructions.
What are the torque specifications?None are published in either component sheet. The only tightening instruction UMI gives is the end link method: with the car at ride height, use a 9/16 inch wrench and tighten until the bushings start to bulge slightly. Use the applicable General Motors factory service information for your model year for chassis fasteners.
Why must the car be on the ground before tightening?UMI states the vehicle's weight must be on the sway bar before the end links are tightened, to prevent bushing bind.
The bushings are greaseable but the instructions say do not grease. Which is right? Both, for different parts. The sway bar bushings that clamp the bar to the chassis are greaseable. The end link bushings are not and must not be greased or over tightened.
My car is lowered. Will the end links still work?UMI states the rear bar's end links suit most cars at reasonable ride heights, and that excessive raising or lowering, or mixing with other manufacturers' parts, may require shorter or longer links.
Is the kit adjustable? No adjustment holes or blades are published for either bar.
Installation Instructions
- Read both component sheets before starting: the front bar procedure and the rear bar procedure are separate jobs in one kit.
- For the front bar, jack under the front cross-member and set jack stands behind the front tires on the frame so the front control arms unload.
- Remove the old front end links first, using an impact wrench or cutting them if needed, then the factory front bar, and fit the new front bar to its end links and clamshells at the factory holes.
- Centre the front bar, moving it as far forward as the clamshell slots allow for clearance around the crank pulley and A/C line.
- For the rear bar, jack under the rear end and set jack stands in front of the rear tires on the frame so the rear end unloads.
- Remove the old rear end links and bar, install the new end links finger tight, attach the rear bar, then mount its clamshells to the existing factory sway bar mounts and centre the bar.
- Assemble each end link with the washers cupping toward the bushings and the bushing nipple centering the stack in the sway bar and control arm mounting points.
- Lower the car so it sits at ride height on all four tires before the end links are tightened, because UMI states the vehicle weight must be on the sway bar to prevent bushing bind.
- Using a 9/16 inch wrench and ratchet, tighten each end link only until the bushings start to bulge slightly, and do not grease or over tighten the end link bushings.
- Turn the steering wheel lock to lock and check clearance around the brake lines, tie rods and control arms before driving.
This kit has no kit specific installation sheet. The steps above combine UMI's own Item 2112 front bar sheet and Item 2113 rear bar sheet. Both are UMI-authored documents served from a retailer's static PDF host rather than from UMI's own website. The PDF served under the kit part number is byte-for-byte the front-bar-only sheet and is not kit instructions.
